3500 miles and i have one very very small paint chip on drivers door. no way you can see it unless you go out of your way to look for it. i live and drive mine all the time down by the beach (sand constantly being kicked up and blown) and there always doing roadwork and honestly my paint is holding up very well

I have a VR with just under 4500 miles on it. I drive it in traffic and live on a gravel road. Besides having to wash it due to the dust on the gravel road, I really haven't seen any issues with chipping.

What is a VR? Virgin Ride? Very Radical? Victory Run? Very Rusty?

I guess I'm just used to everyone doing the , you know my 2SSM6 in VR thing, instead of just saying my VR.

Back on topic now. As I said before ,yes the paint sucks. I don't care any more I'm just going to drive mine and like it for the performance rather than the looks.

I could sneeze on this thing and it might etch. The chips are a whole other monster - my front facia looks like it has been sand blasted, and even after I installed the splash guards, the gills continue to rack up chips faster than a poker pro. I even have 2 sizeable chips on the trunk decklid.

Strict care including detailing and waxing (Adams products) is an exercise in futility. I never have driven through a gravel parking lot, and I don't drive through tornadoes. I avoid construction zones like the plague. Black certainly doesn't help, but none of my previous black cars have provided me the same problems. The bottom line is that it is completely unacceptable for a $35K car, and this issue alone will be cause me to much more carefully consider buying any new car.

So here's to throwing in the towel, and taking a hit to the wallet.
This is just plain wrong.

I don't have any chips yet but I do notice that once my wife opened the door and it nudged the side of my car port. The scratch went to the metal.

I try to be very careful where I drive (highway mostly) and do not stay behind large trucks. I also don't drive it that much (4600 miles in 9 months)

As soon as mine is paid off I'm going to save up for a high dollar paint job.

I don't konw why I am not experiencing any of those problems. just wonder if there is anyone out there like me with no paint issues.
I have 7500 miles on my Inferno Orange, and one chip on the lower lip of the front fascia that is so small I would have to point it out to you... I agree, I wonder why I am not having the problems that others are having with the paint, but let's be clear I am happy that I am not having those problems too....

It seems IOM owners for the most part have a stronger clear put on their cars than the black or yellow car owners. Perhaps the clear itself is the main problem. GM should look into this and test their clearcoat process with the black and yellow cars to determine if that is indeed the culprit.

I just sold my car with 90k miles on it and not ONE chip on the paint and no clear bra, but with all the problems I don't think I can take the chance.

On a side note...we should NOT have to get a clear bra to deal with this, but what choice do I have (for all those who say "just get a clear bra")?
I know "just get a clear bra" is tough to hear, and it should NOT be warranted, but if I were you, I would not drive the car off the lot without it. I wish I could do delivery day all over again, because I would have paid for it. Although not everybody is having the same problems, many of us are. I think it's well worth it in the long run in either situation, just find a good price.
