The Z28 won't be on a unique platform. When its on Alpha, the SS, LT, and LS will be as well. Until then, they'll all be on Zeta. And don't expect a return to 4th gen weights with the platform change. The savings will probably be 200 lbs or less.

well then what would be so special about the new z, the just a s/c car with suspension upgrades, bragging rights, warrantee ? my point is weight reduction is top priority.

The supercharger, the upgraded suspension, the bragging rights, the warranty ...

A lightweight Z28 wasn't really much more than wishful thinking from a minority of enthusiasts. I was part of that group and had a plan for a Z28 that might have came in around 3600 lbs. But most wanted a supercharged direct competitor to the GT500. That said, if it performs it performs.

maybe the photographer drives it, or it was just some muscle car enthusiast that thought to check out the prototype Camaro?

well its better to have a light weight car and add more weight then have a heavy car and then add more. the camaro right now is a fat pig thats all, but if the new z can out perform with increased weight then props on the design
