And yes Torque will always > Horsepower. That's what I love about the old Oldsmobile Engines, they cam from the factory with tons of torque in the low rpm ranges. |

Why hasn't anyone mentioned changing the gears out. That should give you some instant results and it's fairly easy for a good shop to do. Notice I said easy and not cheap. |

The suspension an brakes work great, it rides at 30 now and it definetly handles much better. I really want to autocross with the car. With the SS parts it lets me stay in the stock performance class and still perform better. A set of aftermarket suspension parts and brakes would put me in a modified class where I'd be eaten alive. |

Well perhaps you missed my post DIRECTLY before you where I told him to look into a ring and pinion set...
![]() The gears would be a good way to go to get more seat of the pants. I have no idea what the V6 has factory but I USED TO have 4.10s in my SS, oh my lord they were awesome until the grenaded at the track but thats another story... With a change in the rear gear ratio going higher (3.45 to 4.10 in the SS) you can gain torque equivelant. The actual output of the engine doesnt change but the effect at the rear wheels does. It will be quicker off the line and run through the gears quicker. Sure there are some drawbacks. The car will have a slight reduction in top speed (who cares and actually it wont since the top speed is already computer controlled) and the RPM will be a tad higher at say 65mph. Not enough to make a huge difference though. Like I said I have zero idea what is out there for the V6 but its worth looking into. All you would have to do is have the speedo recalibrated. As the other poster said, it isnt cheap! Do everything you talked about... LTs, freeflow cats, a good cat back, an intake and throw in some gears (which are way cheaper than a cam and head work) oph and if you have an M6... get yourself a short throw, you'll love it then get it tuned... have they worked out the V6 tune yet??? You may not be 300 at the wheels but you will be close... probably 285 whp/ 260 ft-lb wtq. You'd have quite the runner! |

There's only 3.55's available for the v6. Don't think anyone has them yet though...

That's weird. Wonder why Richmond would make 3.55's specifically for the v6 and not advertise the other SS gears for all camaros?
