Hey!
I consider myself new to this much detail work. This is my first black car and am having problems getting some scratches off the right side above the tire. As i run my fingers over the scratches i CANT feel any sort of indent on the paint so i consider them to be minor. I tried using turtle wax scratch and swirl remover but that did absolutely nothing. Guess i get what i pay for (very cheap at wallmart). ![]() what products do you guys recommend to take care of these? also tips on what motion to use. ex. side to side or karate kid wax on wax off. thanx an advance! PS. alot of ppl cringed when i told them i was getting a black camaro and got alot of ppl saying they would never buy a black car again do to the amount of maintenance. As for my experience so far i DO NOT regret it one bit! Its absolutely beautiful! i do manage to clean it once a week i just feel like the entire worlds out to get me hahaha! rocks, birds, my garage(dust), my mom. . .etc. my mom because she is the one who put the massive box in the garage to close to my car which created the scratches ha. They don't look too severe, but hard to say if you could completely remove them by hand. I can almost promise you that you could buff those out in a matter of moments with a Porter Cable Polisher.
Did the TW stuff from walmart diminish them at all or were they completely unchanged? |

im sure their better stuff but if you want an over the counter product, defintly go for meguiars scratchx 2.0, should get those right out with no problem. they should come out by hand no problem with a terry cloth.

Working by hand is always a challenge. If you aren't getting the desired effects applying the polish with a regular applicator you can try a terry cloth (but be gently at first, because it's much more aggressive than a foam applicator).
If you plan on making car care a true hobby I would recommend investing in a Porter Cable setup from Adams. My PC is one of the best things I have bought! |

i have been using a 100% cotton cloth to apply and a micro fiber to remove.
and yes a porter cable will probably be my next purchase. still looking for opinions on what products ppl are using for scratches. . . |

i would still defintly suggest scratchx 2.0 because its a decent price (should be under 10 bucks) and its helped me out thousands of times. I would do a rought back and fourth motion tell you should either hear squeaking or stop when it looks like most of the liquid is gone.

You shopuld be able to remove those scratches by hand.
![]() As others have mentioned, Meguires Scratch X is a very good product. I've used it as well as a few other products, with success. I'd recommend starting out polishing lightly, in the direction of the scratch, and check periodically for effectiveness. Once you've got the scratches removed, end with at least one good coat of wax/polish. ![]() Ed |

That is the exact kit I was going to suggest Dylan.
What ever you decide on, make sure to put a nice coat of way on after your done, for some added protection. If you order the kit that Dylan suggested, I'd suggest you add a bottle of the Buttery Wax.

I agree, but for dark cars the best stuff I ever used was Zaino-5 and a buffer. Took out all the swirls, looked like a new car again! Won Best of Class the next day!

In addition to Dylan's post - you can use the 4" spot buffing pads attached to a drill. Thats what I use for scratch removal.
Use caution with rotary buffing - too much = no more paint!
