If you search or just scroll thru this forum, there is plenty of discussion on this. I went with Barton. I've had it on my car for about 3000 miles with 0 complaints. Best value by far, great craftsmanship, excellent customer service and a top-quality product. Can't be beat in my opinion.

I prefer the Hurst. It reduces shift throw by over 40%, feels very solid with smooth positive shifts, and with over 50 years of experience engineering shifters for race and high performance applications they have a good idea of how to make a great product. GM and other automotive manufacturers have time and again picked Hurst as their performance shifter of choice.
Here is a video of how a properly installed Hurst functions. Last edited by Apex Motorsports; 07-29-2010 at 06:19 PM. |

I've researched many of the threads and it appears MGW would be the better of the two. If you are looking at other shifters Barton is a great shifter for the price. My wife has the Hurst shifter in her Camaro, but I do not like the feel.
Good Luck |

Thanks for the input guys.. After doing some research and watching some videos on all 4 shifters it appears to me that Barton is the best choice..good quality.. very smooth and most important to me.. shortest throw.. The Hurst shifter rattled alot and the throw didnt seem to have changed significantly.. My buddy has the MGW and i didnt like the feel of it at all... Tks again..

I ripped out my mti today and installed Hurst, I'm not happy about it at all. I want my mti back but I already sold it. I'm ordering mgw tonight. The hurst is loose, rattles and vibrates, I'm missing 4-5 often now. The only thing better about it is the looks but not good enough to overcome all the rattles and loseness.

The LSR shifter is height adjustable and throw reduction adjustable. Food for thought.

MGW is the way to go in my opinion. It's a whole shifter, not just a handle. 12.35 @ 113 speaks for itself

I went with MGW.. I love the black SS knob they have available and I like how they stiffened the side to side spring to it just back to center quicker on 2-3 shifts..
