ARRRRGH! Frustration! (Oil Catch can)

Im starting to get frustrated. I have almost 1500 miles on my car, and I just recently saw a picture of an Intake manifold after 900 miles that had a decent amount of oil. I should have pulled the trigger a while ago, but now it looks like things are even harder.

Revextreme apparently can't be contacted, and takes forever and a day to produce their product, Elite Engineering "went out of business" so to speak, Billet prototypes doesnt even have the specific product for our car, and Mike Norris wont answer his phone.

WTF! Where/Who should I go to, to buy my catch can???

WOW....glad I got mine when I did.

Elite Engineering went out of business????? Hmmm....no wonder I go so many emails from them pushing their product. They must have been hurting.

I'm assuming you've called Rev-Xtreme? If they don't answer, keep leaving a message and keep calling back. I wouldn't pay the money in advance....only buy when he says they have them in stock.

Revextreme does take a long while. I finally got my can about 5 weeks after I ordered it. It took another 3 weeks to get the correct bracket. I do like the product but DAMN it should be quicker. Good luck.

I havent even bothered. Between people saying the customer service is horrible..and taking 4-6 weeks to make, paint, and ship the catch can, I'm not going to waste my time.

Elite Engineering I guess "Split up" and now they have a new name, but they wont be stocking their product anytime soon.

If you are so desperate to get one and you are so anal about what you put on your car.. go to a machine shop and make your own custom catch can...

the lines and stuff isn't that hard to figure out.

I'm in the same boat.

It looks like to me Revxtreme is going of business as well. The only page I can bring up on their site is their home page and even it's blank. All of their other pages are "No Longer Available".

Elite Engineering no longer carries their products.

I've yet to find a 3rd party website that carries either catch can. The few that I had bookmarked a month ago no longer sells them.

Neither of them can be bought on e-bay, I've looked.

Man it would be great if a vendor on here carried one of these, preferably the Revxtreme.

Well I got off the phone with Mike Norris about an hour ago. He wont have anymore Catch Cans back in stock for another 5-6 weeks, BUT he sold about 60 of them to www.WS6store.com, which is where I just bought mine from. Mine was 102$ shipped, and its a 98-02 LS1 Catch can, but they are all the same design (from mike norris, just the fittings and lines vary depending on the can you buy).

If I can't find a similiar bolt to mount the Catch can to like the cylinder heads on the LS1, I will just mount it somewhere else. But for 94$, you can't really beat the design. Only downside is it doesnt appear to have a drain cock at the bottom for easy draining, but it looks like you can just slide it out of the holding strap, dump/clean it, and re-install between oil changes.

A low mileage car may have a bit of blowby sending a bit of oil up into the intake. Once broken in, I'd bet hardly any.

I've owned numerous Vettes and F-bodies that once broke in, don't burn a drop of oil. And I drive the hell out of my stuff every time it leaves the garage.

My gas grill has a catch can for all the fat drippings. Not one of my cars has ever needed one. Just my controversial opinion, but if an engine is burning that much oil, a catch can is just a bandaid.

The appearance inside the intake can be misleading. I would look more at the fact of - is it really burning much oil, and why if it is. If someone sees a little oil in the intake, I would say - yes that is how a closed PCV system works. If it were bone dry, I'd wonder why. Your venting crankcase fumes up into the intake. Fumes that contail oil vapors, that separate out and stick to the intake guts.

How much oil is yours burning at 1500 miles?
