It depends...cat-backs and the HF cats usually improve the MPG by about 1-3, but those who get it usually drive a bit harder because they like hearing the exhaust and feeling the added power...therefore not getting as much improved gas mileage...it just depends how you drive the car after installing the components

I lost 1/2 mpg on my L99 with the Solo Cats. Even my most recent tank which I have not done any high speed acceleration etc (just normal daily driving to work etc).

It will vary from car to car based on what tune you are running...ex: stock vs. aftermarket. Aftermarket tunes can be tweaked to increase gas mileage...they will modify the air/fuel tables. The stock tune, after the car learns the new flow rates and makes compensations, should be about the same as it was before, give or take 1mpg.

I'd say mine has tuned itself back to near-stock numbers. (only have Cats + CAI and no tune on mine) After about 300 miles or so the sound of the car changed quite a bit. It was very rough sounding at first, and quite loud. Now it is pretty much smooth and less loud (but still goes nuts if you get on the throttle).

I love these things. I have about 250 miles on them now. No CEL. Love the way it makes the stock exhaust sound too.

Here is a picture my wife took of me after my first start up and test drive with the
SOLO HF Cats.

After carbon builds up inside the cats (about 500 miles), they should smooth out just as yours did...this is considered the "break-in" period.

Mine are well broken in now with over 700 miles and the sound is sweet as hell! Gas mileage dropped off during break-in but I think it's pretty much back to or just below where it started. Like Steve says though, I tend to drive it a little harder since I got the cats because of the boost in sound and performance, I just can't help myself!

Depends on your ability. For me, due to some unforseen troubles it took about 4 hrs and I had a buddy helping. Though if I'd have had all the tools and parts necessary from the get go it would have been much much less time. (maybe 1.5hr tops)

Well folks, just ahd the HF Cats and the MACH X put on, less then 10 miles so far... but the sound and throttle response difference is undeniable! Each start up has turned heads.

So far: it settles into normal idle very quickly; response is a little more punchy; the drone at 16-1800 RPM is there, as is the decel popping; and, of course, the tips look just great.

After more miles I'll post more updates. Very happy with the ease of install, the fit, the look, and the sound of the two together!
