I get 14-16L/100km on highway in 5th/6th.

16-19L/100km in the city

hopefully that improves after oil-change and some more KM on the clock.

9.5 L/km overall, which is about 95% highway driving, average speed 110 km/hr

Ok...so this is the reason. I was confused with what was pulling the Canadian vehicles. Definitely with that kind of difference we cannot expect the same performance in America. A bigger gallon I think is a better idea?

Not a Camaro SS, but my G8 GT that is around 4000 lbs with a L76 6.0L V8 with DoD & 6-speed auto:

Best I've seen was on a road trip to/from Chicago area = 8.9L per 100 km

& the worst I've seen is in winter around Feb with my Blizzak LM-60 on = 17.0L per 100 km

& I use a thicker viscosity 30 (almost a 40) motor oil:
(German) Castrol Syntec 0W-30
Viscosity at 100°C = 12.1 cst
HTHS viscosity at 150°C =/> 3.5 mPa·s
It doesn't meet the energy savings spec
That always makes your gasoline mileage drop a bit.

M6 with just over 3100k. Stock, no mods...yet (other than cosmetic). DIC reports 60.9 km/h avg speed and 11.3 l/100k avg fuel consumption. Checking the last three tankfulls myself I got:

11.17, 10.41, 11.22 litres per 100k.

or 21.05, 22.6 and 20.96 miles per US gal

or 25.28, 27.14 and 25.18 miles per Imp gal

So I would say the DIC is pretty accurate.

There is a great little online tool by the NRC that both Canucks and Yanks can use: The Fuel Calculator. If you fill up the same way each time it can be very accurate. I just reset the trip meter at each fill up and jot down the figure on the receipt from the gas station, for entry online at a later time.

chromesons you should be able to compare your mileage with the folks in this thread using that tool.

I am happy when mine is < 15.0L per 100 km.
When just driving to/from work in downtown Toronto.

As a matter of fact, on the G8's:
the V6 only saves you (according to the sticker):
2 mpg in the city
1 mpg on the highway
(in American gallons.)

But it saves you alot more when sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic, when the V8 just eats gasoline.
Where I have seen it hit 20L per 100 km.

the most important info to post up along with your mpg is your avg speed. But for being v8s, theyre are pretty damn good on fuel in the right conditions
