Looking at the numbers, a couple are close for performance and sound. Any good comparisons done? Opinions?

What do you want? Shorties or Long tubes? I'll give you a good place to start...check out the V6 section and look for the exhaust sticky thread at the top. Scroll to the bottom of the first post to find the sections concering V6 shorty headers and V6 long tube headers.

Ok so question. What is the difference between short tube and long tube headers?, I mean besides the actual length of the pipes, why would someone pick long tube over short tube or vice versa?

The shorty headers for the v6 are actually more labor intensive then long tubes, are more mid length then shorty and do produce decent gains due to the longer runner length.
Long tubes are all bolt on, no welding needed, and due to the longer runners, make a big chunk more power. Of course, the hiflow cats, or lack of cats, behind them will aide in that! Shorty headers retain factory cats, and are less likely to produce a CEL. Long tubes will produce a CEL, unless you tune, and there are more options in the long tube area. Shorty headers are cheaper, less likely to void a warranty, but don't produce the power/torque of the long tubes/hiflow cats. Now, brand names? That's up to your budget. I prefer my ARH longtubes, abut I'm not going to knock another's choice. The ARH's do appear, IMHO, to be the best quality long tube we have available. |

Check out Stainless Works. We recently added them to our line up and have been blown away by their parts. Stainless Works headers are made in the USA from the 304L stainless steel. These materials will never red rust like the cheaper 400 series stainless materials used by other manufacturers. Stainless Works stands by the quality and workmanship of their products and it shows.
Hereis a set of their V6 headers and high flow cats. |

Can't say which are best, but I have BBK LT's installed and love them. The main reason I went with BBK is they come with optional ceramic coating (This helps keep engine temps from getting as hot as without coating) and they were a lot cheaper than AR LT's. More money saved for additional mods!

I'll back you up... But it won't be worth much since I'm still waiting on delivery. Haha. But I did choose DT shortys.

If your buget has the room go with long tubes. As for shorties i would go with the Doug Thorley's if i were just now deciding to do it. JBA was the only option when i did mine. They have a tendancy to cause a CEL. If you are in a state with emission checks on your vehicle you need to stay with the Shorties. The Factory cats stay in place so they wont give you any grief.

If looking at prices on the long tubes and hi flow cats, look at what they are made of. 304 stainless is better than 409. Some of the cats are made out of steel too. On 87 octane, my dyno was 268 HP. Should have done it with 93. There hasn't been a header test like has been done with the CAIs so no one knows how much, if any, difference there may be amongst the LTs.

Go LT headers. From the numbers I've seen the LT have been making about 5+ more hp/tq than the shorties. Plus you get a deeper exhaust tone.

CB4dude, ARH systems are for those that won't settle for second best in quality, fit and finish. Our systems are entirely made in the US using 304 S/S and as some V6 owners can attest, the performance lives up to the quality. We offer up to a full system with mufflers and X-pipe that we believe will exceed the expectations of enthusiasts. If anyone needs to know more please PM me a contact number and I'll call you with all the details. Thanks.
