No worries - tar and bug remover available at any autoparts store will take it right off. Be sure to wax the area when done as it will take the wax off as well. At least it wasn't fresh paint

Try taking them off & beating them with a rubber mallet. If you can't take em off, cover them with an old blanket or something.

That's the only thing I got for ya, hope it helps.

I agree, goo gone should work, but if not try plain baby oil. Works great to get tar off and no harsh chemicals.

Use diesel fuel and a rag. Wear latex gloves too. It will come off without too much fuss and the fuel wont harm the paint.

BE very carefully with that , you should try WD40 and lots of time and calm time but this way you will not damage the finish !!!!

This happned to me when I had a1993 Formula, The local detail shop cleaned every speck of tar off for $100, The road contractor ignored my requests for reimbursment and it wasn't enough to take to court....

I'm pretty sure they were asking about your going to "SCHOOL" because of the way YOU spelled "SKOOL"

I would be pissed also, like others have said it should not stain the paint if you have waxed it but, I would try and see if they would give you some kind of reimbursement for your car to be detailed, and cleaned up!!

Me Too

I feel for you!Same thing happened to me twice last month.Road sealing with tar and rock chips and caught up in the lane they were doing and the opposite lane already had the oil down so I could not turn around and go back.Worst 10 mile trip I have ever had.Tar and Rocks a flying.People with piece o shit vehicles driving thru it like maniacs as they didn't give a dam.Me 10-15 mph and getting pushed.Ended up with two rock chips on the lower rockers & five hours of wd 40 and elbow grease to remove the tar.Last time only took 2 hours to wd 40 and re-wax lower half.So far almost every road in our county appears to be getting the tar and rock sealing and it's getting hard to avoid.Hope your tires come clean!

Happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately for me it wasn't that fresh. I could here the rocks kickin' up though. Straight into the next self serve carwash. I caught some tar on the front bumper near the grill. It's wasn't easy but got it all off.

Worse was about a month ago. I exited off the highway and made a left on to the overpass. It was a three lane turn. I was in the far right hand lane. Next thing I know I'm behind a paint truck spraying new lines. I'm thinking to myself "how the hell did I end up behind these ass hats w/ no warning or a "follow" truck." It's even odder because the opposite lane has a turn after his, now mine, lane has a red light to allow them to turn. I did my best to squeeze between two new, freshly painted lines. No luck though. My front right tire caught some paint and flung it all up in the wheel well and a bit onto the side of the car. I inspected as soon as I arrived at work and brought out the rubbing alcohol to remove it. It was fresh enough it came right off the paint but the wheel well was pretty well spackled. I then went across the street to the self serve car wash and was able to remove all of it in the wheel well.

Who stripes a street at 11:00am on a very busy road/hwy. w/o closing at least that lane?
