I'm just wondering if this Camaro is for all the younger folks out there!
I have gotten a lot of grief about ordering. . . they think i'm too old for such a car! I'm 48. . . . how about all of you out there???

That's ridiculous. If anything the car gives a more sophisticated vibe than other of its ilk (Mustang, I'm looking at you).

Heck no, I was 9 years old when my favorite, the 69 z28 was made. No way I could get a new one then. Now about 40 years later, I will have one with muscle. The 4th gen was close but the 5th has it all.... Get one

I got the grief too, I'm 48 with 2 kids. thats why I'm not getting the cheap vette. I need the backseat. The wife says the car screams 16yr old punk. LOL

My take is, by the time we are done the car will stand almost 40G. I think you will find us guys who loved the 69's driving the 2010.

Getting same feedback as well from my sister to a few co-workers. I like a nice ride and I want a new Camaro to be that ride.

well, you know they say vettes are for older guys. i was about to buy a vette and was catching hell by everyone i told. they said your too young for a vette. but i think the camaro is for anyone. i think it is geared more towards the 20-45 crowd, but whos gonna stop you from buying it?

I see a lot of boomers liking this car 'cause they grew up with hot rods. Then again, I'm also glad to see the younger generation X and Y people getting excited about a dose of true American fast and furious. And it does appear from the sampling on this site, that this is a car for gererationS. NICE!

And yes, I'm a BOOMER!!!!

The Barret-Jackson stereotype has etched itself into pretty much every mind. When people think muscle car, they think of middle-aged guy with a big sense of nostalgia. And when they think new age muscle car, they think middle-guy with a big sense of nostalgia that can't afford to upkeep a classic or already has one but drives it seldom.

To me, Camaro is a car for everyone. Who cares how old you are, if you're an enthusiast, buy it. God knows more 48 year old guys know more about Camaros and are more deserving of them than some 18 year old kid who only wants it for the image, and that's coming from me, I'm only 21. Then again, there is something epic and very novel of a young, good-lookin' guy rolling up in a muscle car... that's basically the image they tried to market in the 60's - The Hollywood image. Remember that old GTO commercial? And all the pop culture material revolving the 'cool kids in highschool and their Camaros and Mustangs'?

There's a side to both agegroups when it comes to these cars...

The older muscle maniac: has a passion, knows the car, loves it for what it is and is well-respected for it.

The young, bad-boy: has the spitting image for the ideal driver, knows what he wants, goes for it no matter what.

I say both older guys and young alike are perfect candidates for the new Camaros... as long as the older guys act their age and the younger guys drive and think responsibly. I am similarly glad, however, that they are trying to market this towards younger folks a little. Us Gen Y's never had a truly powerful muscle car we could afford brand new until now, it's our turn to build memories we can dwell on in our 40's and 50's. You baby boomers always complain about how the young kids like these imports, but honestly it's all we could afford! XD ... ... until now.

Oh yeah! I totally understand where you're comin' from 'cuz that's exactly where I was 10 years ago when I bought my '98 SS... 2 kids and all...

11 years later, at 59 years old, the kids are not a factor any longer in the decision-making process and I'm fortunate enough to be in a position where I can get my mitts on pretty well whatever car I want - within reason!

I don't care 2 hoots about "image" - I don't have an ego that needs to be fed, and I don't need to prove nuthin' to nobody. If I did, I'd probably be driving a BMW or an Audi/Lexus etc... or some other image-boosting car.

I want a new Camaro. That's who I am what I'm really comfortable with, but I want a Z/28!!!

I'm not necessarily comfortable with a 'Vette, but I do have the utmost appreciation of a Z06 (but I do need an open roof of some some sort - been a "convertible guy" since my 1966 Pontiac Parisienne 'vert). That was a Canada-only car.

If there's no Z/28 happening any time soon, I could find a way to enjoy a Z51 LS3... but what is really turning my crank lately is the 556 HP CTS-V.

The good news is that I ain't in a rush...

Best regardSS,

Elie
