this one I think you are way off on. Start a poll?

The camaro having a back seat a driving factor for you to buy

1.Yes

You must not have kids that come running out to the garage every time you start your Camaro up? Well I do, I would not want to choose which child I take for a ride with me, I would rather take both and even take my wife along if she is good. My boys love going for rides in my Z28 and my Shelby.

My dad had a Corvette when I was young, when it was my turn to get a ride I was on cloud 9, but when one of my brothers got to go I was bummed big time.

To me a Corvette is a young single just landed a great job car OR most of what I see, a car for those that are close to retirement or retired. Every Corvette I see has grey hair behind the wheel.

+1000

Exactly. Vettes are singles or retirees. They are never for men with families. Camaros and Mustangs are for those with families.

I plan on having kids soon which is why I won't go buy a Vette. Hell, a Shelby won't even hold all the kids (GF already has a few, divorced). So, heck yeah it's a decision factor.

Exactly! The ability to carry more than one passenger OR a loaf of bread is a key selling point for pony cars!

Heck yes it was for me.... I wanted a 370z but could never sell the wife on since we have 5 young kids, but once she saw the Camaro and could rationalize using it instead of the van for shuffling the kids around to activities, it was *she* who wanted one

We have two booster seats in the back and our 3-6 year olds ride there a lot.

There certainly is a lot of performance comparison between the Gt500 and the future Z28, which is fine. But everyone will surly realize that there is VALUE in a completely new body style. I like the look of the GT500 but I LOVE the look of the Challenger and the new Camaro (because it's novel). All of these cars are fast, but only two offer the new look as a BoNuS.

Unfortunately the Mustang is predominantly a preserved body style that is nothing new to look at. Drive down the street in a Camaro or Challenger and turn heads but drive a Mustang and you will most likely go unnoticed. In a couple years we will all be desensitized to these body styles, but right now Camaros get noticed. After all, that's why you bought a car like this...isn't it?

Then figure in the cost of research and development, which we can't really tell but its going to be millions of dollars, divided by thousands of cars. Add it up and you're looking at $20,000 without too much hassle.

If you are looking at the GMPP catgalog then yes, there is a big difference in the price of the engines. Remembers, those are retail numbers. GM can produce those engines for a whole lot less than they are selling them as crate engines. I think an honest estimate is about 10k over 2SS.
R & D? These are off the shelf parts on a platform they already have. I would think the cost is at a minimum. I feel the GT500 is the goal, and if they over shoot it on the price, they will not sell. Why would anyone buy a Z or whatever its called at price X, when they can get a GT500 for less than X. Brand loyalty? Eh! Don't think so. It doesn't make sense, Gm knows this. It will perform and be priced similar to the 500 or it will be a bust.

I really hope you'd be right, as I'm sure many others... I hope they don't try to limit potential sales like they are for the "other" car, lol. I like the idea of collectability and all that, but I'm not going to be suprised if that's the case. If the competition is doing it, I'm sure they'll be looking into the same. If they don't cap it, our chances, I think, will be better that it will be more "affordable."

I can assure you, if you drive a Shelby you get more attention then you want. I dont like leaving it in a parking lot because it draws crowds. It takes hours to leave our local cruise spot, as soom as i start to lower the hood people swarm.

I bet that covered up fender badge says something like Camaro ZL1 or SuperCharged SS or even Grand Sport as in Camaro GrandSport

Let the Z28 nameplate go and never be used again.................
UMMM, why would they not want the name Z28 to be used again? It's a part of Camaro history.

Please explain your reasons for not wanting it.

Yes, those are retail based prices, but don't we buy cars at retail price as well? As for the GT500, it retails for a hair under $50k.

Throwing a bunch of parts onto a car changes a lot of things. Things need to be tweaked and tuned to make it feel like a complete car and not something pieced together from a parts catalogue in some guys garage. Getting the engine and exhaust sound just right, getting the steering feel right, getting the right balance between ride and handling with the suspension, and hundreds of other little things (if not thousands). Plus they have to do emissions testing, safety testing, reliability testing, bench marking ... it adds up.

In 2011 Ford will be releasing the 302 Boss and the 302 Boss Laguna Seca. These are two excellent track cars and this is what I expect from the Z/28. I've said it once and I'll say it again, 500 hp is way more than enough. Hopefully Chevy will fulfill my wishes. Curious to know if GM has the rights to names like IROC or IROC-Z. Crossing my fingers for a small block screamer.

On the Zeta.. might as well strap a rocket (LSA?) to the ass. There is just too much car there to be throwing around. 5th gens may be pleasing to the eye but more and more I find myself loving my 4th gen more. Just feels more capable than the IRS Zeta.

I'll wait for the 6th gen/when they decide to downsize.
