Which model did you go with.. <EDIT SAW IT ON THE PAGE> that page is sweet! Do you just sync it when your done? I try to ride 30min as fast as I can around the neighborhood 3-4 times a week but may have to up it to keep up with the C5 cycling team!
This model, the Edge 500, has a USB connection... Plug it into my PC and the log into the Garmin Connect website and then simply hit "Upload".

There are also a lot of things I haven't even tried yet... like "Workouts" and "Courses". I'm amazed at just how many features are packed in this little guy! And the price was very reasonable... Bike Nashbar has a 20% off coupon so I got the "Bundle" with HR strap and speed/cadence sensor for like $279!

All of us should start a C5 fitness thread, lol.
Great job on your weight loss!!!

hmmm... running... yeah... me and running never got along! LOL! I have short stubby little legs so I have this tiny little stride... and I have no fast twitch muscles..... so I compensate for all that by mashing big gears on a bike! LOL!

I'm on my own new regimen. I gave up the 12 oz curls (beer) a month ago and the medicine ball I was carrying around is now a vollyball. About 15 lbs.

I did some data logging too after finding an app similar to your Garmin (not nearly as accurate). Thanks scrming, I had no idea there was stuff like this out there. This will make me push myself harder if I can quantify the results!

I was thinking about that too. I'm glad you said it--I was afraid to.

Let me know what you come up with. I like to ride too.

Speaking of smartphone apps ( I love the Tracks walking/running app for android, btw), has anyone tried the smartphone-based data-logging, quarter-mile and dyno apps?

There was a write up on one of them in one of the tuner mags floating around out there (my friend had one lying around) that determined that it was a fairly plausible concept if done correctly and could yield numbers for HP and Torque within the same 10% margin-of-error range as a real dyno.

One of the paid-for Iphone apps even had functions for datalogging through an OBDIII port on your vehicle. You would, of course, need to buy/supply a cable.

Actually I'm getting really good at getting the bikes in and out of the trunk! So no trailer hitch for me! LOL

congratulations! If you look at exercise as a way of life for the rest of your life it becomes easier.

I would suggest P90X once you get to a managable level.

Good for you!!

Now, I've got to get off my lazy ass and do this. I need to drop 30 pds, and I'd be a happy, happy man! Time to put that treadmill to use, and since it's cooler, maybe drag my bike out of the garage!
