LQQK what I found in my Oil Filter.

Did my second oil change today, My Camaro has 6,502 miles on it.
The dealer did the first change and saved me the orig filter. It didn't have any chips in it.
This looks like a metal chip off a lathe that may have been stuck in the block somewhere so I'm not too concerned.
Car runs awesome, doesn't use a drop of oil and gets 32 MPG highway.

dang

Look's like a piece of that cheap ass dip stick they put on our cars? Just kidding though.Hard to believe something that big could get thru the production process.Oh well good to see it ended up where it did and not on top of a piston or valve et'c.

I know, my guess is it was somewhere in the upper block or heads as the crankcase oil pickup has a screen before the pump. This chip would not make it through there. The filter did its job.

How did you open the filter? Did you use a large pipe cutter?

His car has a V6 in it. The V8 uses the traditional spin on filter.

I bet it was just a piece of crap that was in the tech's drain pan.

That wouldn't have gone through the oil pump pickup screen.
