Can anyone tell me what type of "paint" this is?

So, i'm completley unsure of if this is a diffrent type of paint, or a finishing job, or what, but i love the look of it and was wondering if anyone can give me any information regarding, where to get this, or how much it cost,
or what its called or anything.

I got this photo off the $320k / 1400 hp camaro that i'm sure alot of you saw, it's the only picture i know of that has this type of finish or w/e.

ALSO, if anyone can tell me what those type of rims are called, the ones that go in real deep into the tire, that'd be fantastic!!

Thank you to all the people that answer these posts, great community

It's a matte (flat) black paint job.

It'd be cheaper to do it in vinyl in case you get tired of it. Not sure what that might run ($1500?) but it would be tons cheaper than paint.

I'm a little confused ( sorry for being such a novice in the car world ) So i expect to order a regular camaro 2ss, with black paint, i wanted to get this paint as i feel it looks really nice, I also really want to get some imperialish blue stripes on the hood and side.

So would i have to go to a specialist to get this "smoothed" or "painted" on? what exactly do yo mean by vinyl, arnt they just like picture type things you put on your car?

Man i feel soooo dumb asking these probably idiotic things, but i gotta learn somewhere

Thank you!

pretty much run as much as any other paint job.

it's just a matt clear that can be cocktailed with regular clear to achive a slight sheen. But the processes are the same as if you were using regular clear. All the same prep steps have to be followed.

That paint is just regular gloss black. Satin paint has less shine then that and would not show reflections as clear as it does. If you do want a matte black (murdered out) look the best thing to do is vinyl since it is cheaper and removable. Look up "car black vinyl wraps" on google images.

I dont believe the paint is flat or gloss black. I remember reading that they called the color Black Cherry. It has deep red/purple flake in it on a black base. Maybe it has a satin clear that gives it a slight matte and slight shine to the finish.

It says In the story from the link above, "Custom PPG Nexa water based Black Cherry paint". Its not plain gloss nor flat black. Also "murdered out" usually refers to blacking out everything, not just a flat black paint job or wrap. A wrap would be a good idea based on price but you still get a better effect with an actual matte paint job.

Vinyl is the material used to make stickers Generally a vinyl wrap used to refer to graphics added to a car for sponsors, or pictures, or a design on the car. Now a days a lot of people have they're car wrapped in one single color vinyl such as flat black. The process involves solid sheets of vinyl to be applied to a car's exterior rather painting the entire car as it is cheaper and you can take it off later without your paint being ruined. Hope this helps, good luck with your build!

Hey OP -
Another option, kind of a hybrid of the two proposed (paint vs vinyl wrap) is what I used to two-tone my Camaro. It is called Flex Paint and can be found at FLXPaint.com This is an adhesive vinyl underlayer (think clear bra material, though it is different) with automotive paint and then clear coat painted onto the vinyl. In my case the paint primary color is pearl white, the orange trim is Kandy Kopper. The supplier makes the material in large sheets, then ships it to your installer. They then unroll it and apply it like one big decal over your whole car. The amazing part is the way that the paint/clear can flex and follow the contours of your car.

And since the finish is clear coat over paint, you wash and wax it like any other painted surface. As mentioned above, it is removeable. A few years down the road I could completely change the look of my Camaro if I want.

Here are a couple of shots of before, during and after.

PM me if you want more information.
