Went in a Different Direction got a Genesis Coupe
Hi everyone,
After years of following the development of the 5th gen Camaro and watching it unfold before our eyes through spy shots and videos and what not, and watching it become a big hit, I found that the cost of it up here in Canada was just too rich for my blood. The interest rates charged on this wonderful car were just too much for me to bear at this time. So I went with a car that I enjoyed driving as much as the Camaro SS, the Hyundai Genesis coupe 3.8 track model with the 6 speed manual (called 3.8 GT in Canada). It just came down to dollars and cents for me. I was out of work for almost 5 months last year, and that really dug a major hole into my finances. I was hoping that maybe the interest rates would be low enough for me to finance a Camaro SS. But it won't happen. I test drove the Camaro and loved it and wanted it really bad, but not bad enough to cut corners in other important areas of life. Sometimes you have to cut your cloth according to what you can easily afford, and the Genesis coupe is the best way to go for me right now. What I miss out on with 426 HP, I make up for with touch screen nav and a bunch of other really nice tech toys and features that the Camaro doesn't have, I guess. Anyways, I'm very happy with my purchase. Hyundai has come a long way and the Genesis is a fantastic car. Coming from a 210 HP Acura RSX Type S, the 306 HP in the Genesis is more than enough to put a smile on my face. The staggered wheels and Brembo brakes look great. I test drove alot of cars (5.0 Mustang, Challenger, Infiniti G37, EVO X, and of course, the Camaro SS, my fav of them all), but when it came to the fun to drive factor, the Camaro came out 1st and the Genesis a close second. With dollar amounts involved, the Genesis made the most sense. In the States, the SS and the 3.8 track Genesis cost about the same. But in Canada, the price difference is huge, when factoring in finance rates. I have to say, that you guys are the best. I loved sharing the passion of the Camaro with you guys and my passion for the car will never die. It is and always will be my favourite performance car. And who knows, if my financial situation changes in the future, I just might be part of the real Camaro community someday by actually having a Camaro of my own. |

I like the Genesis Coupe. I like it way better than the 350z, cause the 350z's interior looks straight up goofy to me.

I think the genesis is very feminine looking, no offense to the OP. Mabye the 350Z interior was, but the the 370Z interior is very nice looking.

Very good choice. I have driven about 4 Genesis Coupes and I have a friend with a supercharged 1 and they are really great cars. The interior in them are really really nice.
Now post some pics of the new ride..... |
