What do you all think?
: sm0:OMFG. I just read this and wanted to tell you to run, dont walk but run from that service department and never look back. If one of my guys told me this I think I would fire him because he is way to stupid to be working on these cars and if he doesnt know that much then he cant know much more. The Vette is a true sports car. The Camaro a true pony/muscle car. Really they are very different and appeal to different drivers in different classes. They should not even be compaired in the same class. I love my Camaro but a same year Vette mod for mod would hand me my ass and I have no delusions about this. The Vette would own the Camaro in every direction except a free fall from a cliff. Any one thinking otherwise is in lala land or blinded by Camaro fanboyism. A C6 ZO6 tried to race me last weekend and I didnt even bother, more importantly why would he? Why he would risk going to jail and being fined a $1,000 over a car he could easily smoke is beyond me.

Well, the list of the drag racers from the Corvette Forum didn't go far enough down to where I was when my 08 was factory...12.26 was my best time with my LS3. Now, with a 418 LS3, my best has been 10.90 @ 128. The rear and the A6 tranny hold up fine. You just don't want to wheel hop...or you can blow the rear end. All that said, even though my 08 Coupe will eat a base ZR1 in the quarter mile, I am still looking at the Camaro. I love the lines and have always loved the Camaros.

Camaro vs. Corvette, Camaro Hands Down

I was on the road (again) the other day for at least a 10 hour drive. In that time I was able to see many a fine Camaro and Vette pass me by in my van.

That said I have to agree that the Camaro is by far a better car than the Vette. I saw a video post on The Camaro Zone, chevroletcamaro2010.com to the same effect.

I'm not saying that the Corvette is not appealing but it lacks the ability to do anything more than be fast. The Camaro has always been a vicious little Mustang eater. Stylish and well thought out.

I did the same thing. Loved my vette and love my Camaro. Needed the back seat for the kids.

I had a C5 with s/c running 500rwhp and they are fast, fast enough that my Wife was killed in it. To much power and she lost control and hit a tree.. Life can be changed in a blink of an eye.

SO that being said I know have a Camaro main reason is I have kids and want to be able to take them with me... but I will diff get another Corvette down the road as they are a sweet. BUT I will also mod my camaro as I like to go to the track and have fun...

Agreed, that could lead this thread soooo far off track if we were to get into that though

I was considering a vette also myself with the insane employee pricing discounts up here in Canada, price drops close to $20,000 and much more for higher end models, ended up with a base corvette being only $3,000 more then I paid for the fully loaded 2SS I bought.

Still beyond happy I went with the 2SS. I know some people that work at GM dealerships and they have coincidentally told me when I was looking to purchase a camaro that several people coming in to buy vettes ended up going with the camaro after test driving and naturally probably the price difference vs. the performance being similar (talking base vette vs. 2SS).

If I had the money, I would have went with a Z06, the ZR1 is just too expensive, regardless of how nice it is.

I keep going back and forth too...the biggest difference is the practical part of the Camaro. Its MORE car, its got back seat, a real trunk, its bigger...the vette is so low to the ground, the snap off top, the hatchback....2 seats, its a great car, but the camaro just seems like its MORE car. I just think you look less spoiled in a Camaro, and the Vette looks too delicate, or something. Dont get me wrong I still may end up with a vette for a little while anyway, but the camaro is more long term.

I just traded in my 2007 Z51 for a 2011 SS, and I'm completely happy with it. Honestly, after reading some the posts here, I think there are some good points made.

Considering the aesthetic aspects, I mean, it's all a matter of opinion, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder as to which car looks better than the other. I personally think that both cars look gorgeous, though they each have different "personalities", if you will. The Corvette is a pure bred sports car, and looks the part. It's sleek, smooth, agile-looking and just looks like it's meant to go fast. Vice the Camaro, which is blockier, yet still streamlined, but has more of a stance and body line that looks like it's more of a brute force car, forcing it's way forward, versus the Corvette which looks like it cuts through the air vice muscling through it.

Practicality wise, the Camaro is far more practical. I'm not old, though I'm not breaking my back to get in and out of it like I was my vette. And it's got four seats and a trunk. And it's not so low to the ground that I'm scraping everything, or bottoming out on crappy roads in LA. I mean, hell, vettes are friggin rattleboxes...

As far as the performance, honestly, there's not a very significant difference between an LS2 vette and an LS3 Camaro...the LS3 is a just slightly slower IMO. Handling-wise, the vette takes it obviously, but straight line performance is relatively on par if you ask me. But this is an LS2 vette I'm talking about. Comparing the two if you ask me is apples and oranges...two different audiences with different wants out of each car, stock for stock.

As far as the OP's statement from over a year ago...that dealer is smoking crack.
