I first saw the prototype for the camaro at the 2006 powertour kickoff in Orlando Fl. I knew when i saw it i had to have one. With that being said iv'e owned a 1987 iroc-z28 and a 1994 z-28 and this would be an awesome new car in my driveway. My wife loved the car as much as i did so we test drove a 1Ls at a local dealer and my wife had to have it. After haggling with them to remove the premium on the car (which they wouldn't do). WE went to an honest dealership and ordered the car. My wife got an aqua blue metallic 1LS. She didn't see a need for the v-8 as the v-6 has more h.p. than the 1994 z-28 i used to have. I drove the car off and on for about 2 months before deciding to buy a 1ss for myself. Her LS had way more than enough balls for just about anybody. We decide on the 1LS against the 1LT and 2LT because the we really didn't like the stock wheels on either car, so no need to spend the extra cash on it. By the way i invested about $2,000 extra her car to make it resemble an ss down to about every detail. She is completely happy with her car as am i. The only reason for me to buy an ss was because i wanted the more powerful v-8. We both wanted cloth as opposed to leather because we live in Florida and keep our cars outside. Leather gets mighty hot down here. I still love to drive her car and she loves to drive mine. It really doesn't matter which model you get or which engine, just as long as it makes you happy. And as for which car holds it's value more down the road, only time will tell. I personally think that the aqua blue metallic in any trim may be the most rare as that color was discontinued after about i think 3600 in that color.

I've had lots of experience driving both V8 and V6 vehicles in my many years, including Camaros. Many factors have to be included in the equation. Its not just about HP. Its about total weight, front to back weight distribution, breaking power, handling, and costs.

I've found that powerful V8 cars do one thing REALLY well...they go really fast, really well...in a straight line. There's nothing so special as a V8 being hammered to the floor. They tend to be nose heavy compared to their V6 counterparts, and they usually don't handle as well to a comparable V6, both on pavement, and especially in snow. V8s vehicles are not weight balanced (front to back) as well as a V6 model.

I've owned both a V8...and now a new 1LT-V6 Camaro. I enjoyed both for completely different reasons. Some intangibles that also have to be factored in are: insurance costs, fuel costs, and total maintenance costs...all of which a V6 will be less for obvious reasons.

I think everybody needs to factor in what they want ultimately in the end, and what they have available to spend. There is no right or wrong answer.

????? How

I will say I had to take the bite and go with the A6, because I just go so tired of the M6 in city traffic. However, the M6 is a blast on the weekends with open roads...but in any condition I don't see how 400 hp would ever be "annoying"

What I got was:
  • 300+ hp
  • incredible styling
  • runs stock mid 14 sec quarter mile times (I don't race)
  • near 160mph top speed (which I'll never do)
  • 18 inch all season tires for year round driving
  • traction control/stability control
It's all I wanted, it's all I needed.
Are you trying to convince us ooooorrrr?

lol im just playing, the V6 is a beast. You can't knock 300hp

I don't care what you drive or why, but it certainly seems that a lot of V6 owners look to get offended over what are generally harmless comments that are just phrased poorly. Lighten up, your actions make it look like you have the equivalent of "little man's syndrome". The OP had a perspective that most of us don't, so he shared it. A few of you acted pissy about that. The salesman apologized, y'all are still acting pissy about it.

You could cut the insecurity on this thread with a knife! Why is everyone being so defensive? I love how if your opinions differ from someone elses on this board you are automatically a bad guy.

Honestly, it seems like some (not nearly all) are just waiting for something to jump on. Then, you have the obvious baiting.... Would that be "little man with little package" syndrome?

I can and do accept the apology but I expect more from someone who is a sponsor on this site.

I got my LS because that is what I wanted. I did the mods that I wanted because I wanted to create something that was unique and didn't look like all of the others out there.

I didn't need or want the V8.

That being said too many people knock each other because thiers has more power or more mods or their auto is faster than someones manual. At the end of the day it really comes down to bragging rights. We all own Camaros and that should be enough.

At the end of that day there are more important things in life anyway.
