Rear Mounted Battery

Has anyone received any grief from Tech prior to racing about the battery location. My experience was they wanted an accessible cut-off since the battery was not located under the hood. They let me race anyway after I argued with them about meeting safety standards. It was a bit of a discussion and one of the guys was dead against it. Thoughts

There are millions of race cars with batteries located or relocated to the rear of a car, Tech of all ppl should know that. It's a weight saver and safety mod IMO shouldn't be of any question. Beside, the Government signed off on it for everyday use, should be good enough for racing.

Their beef was re-located batteries must have an accessible cut-off. I said this battery is not re-located, it is factory. To their credit if you look at the cars with the battery re-located, most of them have a cut-off. I really think they let me race because they wanted to see my car run. Duno about weight saver, but definitely affects CG...

OK, where the heck is the battery located and how do you get to it? I want to install a CAI and the instructions call for disconnecting the negative.

Any pix?

Look in your trunk under the carpet and cover.

I think the techs were idiots and not current with cars like the Camaro for example... expecially you had to argue with him that the battery in the trunk was from the factory. That shows me that they aint up on there automobiles (factory ones at that) .... just my few words

You should have popped the hood and asked them where the battery was suppose to be.

That would have killed the whole discussion right there. From what I know batteries that have been relocated have to have a cutoff switch but factory location do not. They just had no experience with the new SS.
