ANY camaro is not "just a car" its a classic muscle car with power, looks and design. How ever doesn't know that is "just a person"

Cyndi, you have to realize there are way too many people who are simply existing, and not LIVING! They're passionless, pessimistic souls who feel nothing, and would find something to complain about no matter how much fortune shined down upon them.

You DO have a passion for this car! It was clear to me awhile back when you posted all those photos that day when you got to get in that Camaro. You were truly excited, and it showed in those pictures! There was a bloom about you...and while most all of us would have rather been the one in that car, the fact is we were genuinely happy for you!!! Truthfully, for me, I got excited because you were so excited. That's why I made that offer to you in that post. I wasn't joking...it's a small world, and you never know when paths may cross?

There is one thing I'll share with you. It was something I kind of memorized that my favorite President (Teddy Roosevelt) would say in one way or another in some of his speeches. It sort of applies. Let's see, it goes something like....

"Far better it is to dare mighty things. To win glorious triumphs. Even though checkered by failure. Than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that know not victory nor defeat."

I love those words...if only I would live 'em!

...What this Camaro means to me??? Keeping it short, I'd have to say Freedom...American Freedom!!! I could probably write a book elaborating on it, but I don't think you nor anyone else here would want to read it right now?

One last thing. Never feel bad about LOVING LIFE! It's a wonderful gift that too few appreciate....

Oh yeah, Merry Christmas

The Camaro has the uncanny ability to elicit an emotional response from a totally disproportionate and diverse cross section of our population.
Just reading the stories put forward by people in this thread gives an indication of how many different ways this car has been making connections with people, since it was introduced in September 1966.
Of course, it's no secret that a few cars other than the Camaro have been known to have this effect on people, whereby an emotional attachment is formed between man (or woman) and machine. However, this car transcends virtually all borders when it "talks" to people... age, sex, income level, background etc.
We all hear what the car has to say to us and we respond accordingly. It's really quite amazing how the car communicates to us - in our own language, no less! (Ask a Ferrari or a Rolls-Royce to do that!!)

The emotional attachment I have to my Camaro is based on the fact that it has taken me to places I never would have otherwise gone, enabling me to fulfill a lifelong dream - learning how to drive on a race track.
The car has allowed me the opportunity to meet so many people I never would have otherwise met. I am been fortunate enough to be able to call some of these people my closest friends.
And of course, every time I get into the car and turn the key, I get this really silly grin on my face.
It's the only car I've ever owned that I've never grown tired of. The longer I have it, the more I appreciate and enjoy it.
I took delivery of my Camaro exactly 10 years ago last week. After that amount of time, the bond is stronger than ever.

Best regardSS,

Elie

I found myself right smack dab in the middle of vietnam. At a very nice place---yeah right --called khe-shan as a field radio operator. Needles to say a young punk shaking in his boots minutes before im about to kill my first human being. In the largest and deadliess battle of the vietnam war was about to take place. Ill spare all you liberals of any details -- but I made it thur-not without being 100% totallly disabled. Because of hospital stays and delays i finnally got back home in the spring of 69. I had been sending my milittary pay home every month while i was gone. I walked into a chey dealership. Bought a rally sport yellow black hood stripes -convertible 396 white buckets seats right off the show room floor---6900.00 bucks. I knew nothing of cars then nothinggggggggggg. after three days of dragging in the city streets at red lights against the likes of the hemicudas--the 442 oldsmobiles--and mustangs i left my universal on the street--lolloolol--covered by warranty--lolol-but those were the days --im 60 now and reminese more than i should i suppose. People tell me im to old to drive a car like that.etc etxc etc. Then i talked to an old marine buddy of my that i went thru many battles with. He knows 2 of my lifes passins are driving and driving in a camaro. He said , do you like this car? I said yes. He asked do you want the car? i said yes>-Then he said screw everyone else, buy your dream man!!! that day i put in my order!!!!!

Im a car nut.
I believe it is just that - a story. Due to slumping sales, Studebaker merged with Packard in 1954. Their last models released, the Lark in 1959 and the Avanti in 1963, were based on outdate chassis and engine designs and their sales simply weren't enough to keep them afloat. I seriously doubt either was the basis for the Camaro.
What is noteworthy and pertinent to the Camaro, or at least GM, is that the company had never had an official United Auto Workers (UAW) strike and Studebaker workers and retirees were among the highest paid in the industry prior to their demise.

thats what I was thinking
Ok this was one of the last cars Made By Studebaker & in no shape or form does it even look like the Camaro.

For a car nut it seems like you may know nothing about the Camaro.

For me it's the car I want and want to own for as long as I can, I want it to be MY car that I MYSELF earned and payed for. I veru much bond with the things I buy and especially so with cars. I've bonded a lot wiht my current car, that I haven't even bought but just inherited. And the people that say "it's just a car" more often then not just sees cars as a means of transport, and more often then not they drive something uninspiring, like a Volvo. I wan to have the Camaro to stand out, to have fun, and to make a statement that I'm not going to go trough life as bored as the rest of the pack.

Of course you have time to post on Christmas, what with your family at your beck and call all day. LOL I'm sure you deserve it...enjoy!

One could say that Avanti resembles the Camaro with the long front end and short trunk, but beyond that the similarities end. And I think he might have been talking about some model on the drawing boards for Studebaker, but I couldn't find any info. on it. Nice picture though. Bet that baby's worth a pretty penny today.

Dieseldave24v, I just read your post that was in response to leatherneck's. There was something I heard on the radio last night (Christmas Eve) while I was here on Camaro5. While it's not an audio link (unfortunately), it is a copy of a letter from a wounded Marine to his mother back during the Korean War. If you can find the audio of it, it's even more moving! Here's the link.

What does the new Camaro mean to you?

Just wondering what the new Camaro means to you V6 or V8. This thread is not about it being compared to other cars or what is has or what it doesn't. Just what does it mean to you? Is it an American Icon that has been brought back, are you a die hard Chevy fan. Is this your first time experiencing American Muscle. Is it just a car like any other and you just want it to serve it's purpose. Maybe you just got a good deal and it happens to be a Camaro. Just express what the CAMARO means to you. ( I have read different threads that has caused me to ask this question)
