Assaulted by a stunt kite!!!!

My wife and I were taking a leisurely cruise along the oceanfront, when suddenly WHAM!!! a frickin' stunt kite hits our roof and driver's door.

I pulled over about 30 yds. down the road, and got out to have a look.
One nice paint chip on the roof, and several scratches in the clear coat, following down the side of the roof and driver's door.

Needless to say, I'm frickin' PO'ed. Some lady and her son are packing up their kite, ready to ditch me, so I run over to confront them.

She's like, "oh, did I hit your car? It's my first time flying this thing, sorry."
I had to bite my tongue, due to the young boy standing there looking at me.

I politely explained that there was damage to my vehicle, and that she should come and look for herself. So she looks at my car, and says "oh it's only a little bit of scratches, no big deal"

Don't downplay what just happened here lady, this is a brand new car, my baby, not a POS.

Man, I wanted to plant her face into the roof of my car and wipe the scuffs off, but I had to walk away, leaving the wife to collect her info.

Turns out she's a professor of the university my wife goes to. Even if she does give us a bogus phone number, we can find her easily.

The scratches are only in the clearcoat, so I'm sure they can be buffed out, but there's a good 1/4" chip in the roof, near the seam molding.

Hopefully she comes clean on paying for the damage, but my first impression was she was trying to get out of taking responsibility for her negligence.

The wife's at a reputable body shop as I speak, getting an estimate on the repairs.

What really pissed me off, was she clearly was trying to get away from me.:paddle :: paddle::pa ddle:

I would have been pissed too. I understand that accidents happen, but when they do you owe up and fix them. I hope everything gets fixed good as new and she pays for every penny of it.

I would have broken her jaw, kicked her teeth in and shot the kid.

Ok, tuff guy post over.

You did perfect. You were tactful and got the message across and the job done without being overly mean or agressive. Even though she appeared to be trying to flee.

Good job, and I hope the damage is easily fixed.

Sounds like a professor. Most of them think they think they are far above all of us! Good luck collecting, I suspect you will be paying for this yourself! Hope i'm wrong but.....

Why do people think they are not responsible for damage just because they weren't in their car?

An eye for an eye I say. I'd go buy a stunt kite and beat the sht out of her car with it. While the little kid watches in horror.

She tried to teach him a lesson on how to get away with something. He needs to see the repurcussions of getting caught.

That's so true. Had a neighbor kid run into my Truck on his bike in my driveway. Took it up with the kids parents to no avail. Dude told me it's a Truck it's suppose to have big ass dents and scratches...

This was a Black Silverado SS.

I'd be in jail for assault.

Strange things happen to neighbor's cars around 3am with a baseball bat, or at least that is what someone told me or maybe I just read it in the paper, I don't remember for sure

Maybe you should have given her kid a fat lip and said "oh, it's just a lip, no big deal".
