Don't mean to jack this thread but I have an oil question as well. I have been taught to change my oil every 5k, this being my first new I didn't change it before hand. I am starting to hear how tech advances have made oil better and better and now how a car can judge your oil efficency based on the way you drive...

With that being said I am at 5k miles, was planning on changing my oil for the first time, but my OLM is still at 62%. Should I follow my OLM if it is going to tell me I can go 10k miles on my oil or should I continue to stick to the "golden rule" of 5k? Also how important is making the first oil change premature in a new car?

There's no such thing as premature oil change. It's your car; change it as often as you like.
