Figure out what cam works best to YOUR needs.
Do you want low end torque or power up top? Driveability or do you like a lumpy big cam idle? Which heads are you using? Your needs may not be met by an off-the-shelf cam. Maybe a custom grind will suit you best. Remember, you're really supposed to match your cam to your heads, not vice versa like most people do. However, cams are $500, heads are $2000, so almost everyone does cam first or cam only.

i really don't plan on getting heads for the camaro, they are out of my budget (wife and two kids).
All i really plan on doing performance wise is a cai, intake mani, cam (springs), headers(poss. lt's), and exhaust there after, oh and a qtp or two and a tune im not really shooting for 8000000000000hp. im looking for more around 500~550 and i'll be more than happy. a port and polish def sounds like a good idea, but since i'll be doing all the work myself i might just polish them out myself and leave it at that

A good article in Chevy High Performance on new cams, comp and flowtech specifically mentioned actually using the VVT used in the L99 (instead of scrapping it like most have suggested), to actually make more power.
I know this is irrelevant for most, but since I'm stuck with an A6 d/t my wife, I'm interested in this approach. Interesting about LG though, they made over 500rwhp with a cam only LS3 (vette) an over 515 with mild ported heads and their G6X3 cam.

http://www.lingenfelter.com/store/l92cnc-pair.html tho.... after thinking about it a little more and doing some more research.... DO NOT WORRY ABOUT PORTING YOUR HEADS!!!! why? you ask.... the stock heads flow 300+ cc stock, better than LPE stage III heads for the LS2. Only thing I have read is that exhaust side could use a cleanup, not much to do on the intake side. I have been told that it flows very well stock and is not going to be the performance limiter until 535-550 RWHP NA. The air filter intake and throttle body are the two main intake bottlenecks and the exhaust manifolds and cats are the bottlenecks on the exhaust side.

Lg Motorsports for me too, Though I was considering the G6X-2 cam, I still want the camaro as my daily driver.
