I talked to Tim yesterday. Hopefully, he can get the car on the dyno today.
So what do you guys think, LS9 cam or Custom Cam grind with more duration and lift? |

Unless you are ready to start shelling out driveline money I would say LS9. If you already have those in your budget then the custom grind. At least thats how I would look at it.

I don't want a rough idle, like what I've heard on this thread with really aggressive cams. I wouldn't mind a little bit of lope that smooths out at cruise rpms. I am waiting on the next dyno numbers to decide. We were already at 560 rwhp based on the dynojet runs. I wonder what LT headers, high flow cats, and a CAI will do. I imagine that should get us close to 600 at the wheels. I chose the cooling mist system and the innovate db A/F ratio gauge kit to protect the motor against early detonation or in case I get a tank of low octane gas. If cooling mist's claims of additional horsepower hold up then we should see more gain. Now, I don't intend to drag race my car. I have spoken to Tim and the cooling mist will be used more as a safety measure. I do have a question about cams, for those with a lot of experience. My understanding is that the stock cam is not designed for supercharged applications. Switching to any blower cam will make the engine more effiicient by lowering restriction and lower the boost level as a result. Is this correct? If this is true than it will actually reduce the strain on the motor correct? I have seen a lot of guys do awesome builds on these cars and then sell them soon after. I have never kept a car less than 12 years. So my intent is to build it right and keep it in my garage. |

The tough part is the talk of drivetrain issues. I've seen guys here who are at stock power levels and break stuff. Then there are cars like Ted Jannetty's at over 700rwhp, which gets drag raced a lot on a stock drive train and he hasn't broken anything.
![]() My guess, it's all in how you drive. |
