V6 Autos. engine lag?

Yesterday i noticed when i jumped in the car and put the gas pedal all the way down it felt as if the engine took a while to respond and take off. I have "punched-it" before from a stop and i have been able to get the wheels to spin and slide right from underneath me. This wasnt the case yesterday. I had TC and stab. control removed. Could engine temp, weather, etc play a difference. I have the v6 auto and put this in M mode. Any thoughts from othe v6 owners. Also, for future reference, which combination of TC, stability control, D mode, M mode, will give me the fastest acceleration from a stop? Thanks.

I noticed that weather makes a difference, usually around here in Jersey its around 90 degrees in the morning and around 70 at night. I find the car more responsive at night under hard acceleration and I have NO mods at all, plain STOCK

ok, I figured weather would be the biggest consideration. yesterday was near a scorchin 100 degrees here in south TX. any ideas on the best combo for hard acceleration with respects to TC and Stab. Control, D mode and M mode?

i dont have actual timing but i felt the car is best performing when TC and Stab Cont. are off, the car is on Sport Mode and at night (low temp.). This combination make me feel like I can beat a ZR1 in 0-60 time (j/k )

LMAO. Cool, yea i wish someone would post up their 0-60 numbers of the 6 different possible combos.
1) D mode alon
2) M (sport mode) alone
3) D with TC removed
4) D with TC and SC removed
5) M with TC removed
6) M with TC and SC removed

yeah i know. this morning was rather cool on my drive to work and the car felt a little more resposive to the throttle; however, i didnt want to test turning off my TC and SC in the morning stop n go traffic. Cant wait for the Fall and Winter so this car can breathe a little better.

Temperature definitely makes a difference however if your V6 is stock that is a reason also. I found that my car got much more responsive when I installed my intake, exhaust and definitely when I put the headers on. Keep in mind though you do have an auto (as do I) so there are some cases where the computer will take a second to downshift. This was being discussed in another thread somewhere. If you want to ensure you always take off immediately you can throw it in M mode and use the paddle shifters.

That would be interesting to see. Turning stabillitrek off shouldn't make much (if any) difference in your 0 to 60 times since it is really only meant to kick in if you start to spin out or something and if you are doing 0-60 you are testing (hopefully) straight line acceleration. Traction control makes a big difference as will putting it in sport mode.

Trust me I feel your pain. When I went to lunch today it was 109 degrees. We regularly hit over 110.

I didn't know you were from NY, I'm from MA... woohoo, a fellow Yankee in TX!! lol

The cooler weather definitely makes a big difference. I would even notice it in my Kia, it loved the 60ish degree weather.

I have found that if you turn the stabilitrak off it makes my take offs slower. My car is bonestock A6 also. I put the car into Manual mode and turn the TC off. I can spin tires doing this, but only if I hold the break which we all know that is a bad idea and bad for your car. I usually put it in first gear and hold the brake with my left foot. I rev the car to about 2-3,000 RPMs ( the limit before the car starts to pull itself or spins tires). whenever the light turns green, I drop the brake like you would drop a clutch, and floor it. This gets me a more responsive time in my car.

I noticed this with mine too when driving in automatic mode but in sports mode or manual it's an instant response from the engine when you gun the accelerator.
