hey devil, figure out what your gonna do with your current EAS. tackle that and the other answers will come shortly there after. also i could be mistaken, but i think you can order one in japan and pay on it while your there, then just take delivery on a new camaro when you get back stateside. also consider how much time you have left in japan, because as you know your pay will change shen you get stateside.

Also if you have a deployment coming up you'll be able to pay it off no problem, but if you know you have a depolyment coming up WAIT you'll be able to buy one cash
That'll work.

if you are going to reenlist then go ahead, but if you are thinking about getting out when your time is up don't let a car keep you some where you may not want to be, or if you are like me i asked to go back to afghanistan for year just so i could pay cash for my 2ss/rs when i get back, in the end it's up to you and what you want to do.

First, thanks for your service. It is appreciated more than you will ever know. Sincerely...

and to your question.

This is only a decision that you could make. I'll tell you right now that things come up that you never expected...they always do. ...money out of pocket, that is. Then again, if you keep living for tomorrow, then you will never live for today.

Live smart. Don't work to pay off a car. Work and save up some cash...buy a used 4th Gen or TA and enjoy it for the time being. Buy something you can afford.

When the time is right, you will get into a brand new sports car. You will have the money down. The stress of signing that paperwork saying, "IF everything goes as planned, I can make it," is always rough...and can usually get messed up. Leave yourself some cushion room for the unexpected. Then, if you can afford it, go for it.

Just my .02

I think I'll take the overwhelming advice of waiting until I re-enlist or not to make my decision. Thanks again!

Jimmy - this is HM1 English at Camp Lejeune. If you keep it at NO OTHER bills, you could do this but you'd have to dedicate yourself to paying it off.

I've been in 19 years, getting commissioned in May, & giving the Navy 10 more years - what's wrong with the USMC - it's a good life. I've spent 14 of my 19 years with you psychos in green & wouldn't have it any other way.

you know you want to stay in...c'mon, just sign that paper....you know you just can't resist.... think of all the mods you could get for your new Camaro if you did another enlistment..........

Yup- I agree with you. If you re-enlist, then you can purchase with confidence. If you are punching out in 2 years, the economy is still too risky even a couple years from now.

$1,800 a month? I assume that's your base pay?

Short answer is no. Wait till there are used 5th gen's then buy. Option 2 boss. My dad was a radio operator with 1st Marines and when he came back he purchased a new Buick. Then got drunk and crashed it into a phone poll a week later lol. (Good jughead story). Anyway yea man just hold off and let someone else eat the drive off. Then buy at 2 years old while still under warranty. There are lot of LS1 / Lt1 vehicles out there if you need a taste for now. S Fi.

Damn ... they should give you and all those serving our country and in harms way a Camaro. You earned the car in my eyes. I know this doesn't answer your question but seems like you've already gotten some good advice from those that know your situation better.

My advice? Be smart and don't let the enthusiasm sway you. There will be Camaros for years to come. Consider your situation and above all be prepared for life's little financial surprises. Don't come to rely upon combat pay either.

Ex-Marine myself (Nam era). I was called a lot of things but hero wasn't one of them. My son just came back from Iraq (101st Airborne) and that is "sweet" enough for me.
