SS is a power/speed and cost decison. The V6 is fast and quick. At least I think so. I cannot imagine the difference between the V8 and V6...but I would like to drive one and find out...
You could spend about 4 - 10 thousand more for an SS depending on options. BTW I was "sold" as soon as I sat in it.

Yeah had no intent on buy a 5th Gen Camaro... My wife called me and told me to come over to her work where a guy there just got a new car and wouldn't tell me what it was... got there and.... wow in all of it's glory was sitting in the parking lot gleaming.
He threw me the keys and said have fun... I didn't question it... took the keys and left. I literally came back talked to the wife of course to avoid that argument later and ordered mine that day. I've had it a year now this month... with a couple of grand in parts, and motor work now.. you think it's fast stock.. let it breath a little better and throw a cam in it... whatever you do though.. if this is your first time with a rear wheel drive car do your self a favor and DO NOT take the T/C off until your good and used to whipping the rear end around at will... Comp mode is a safe place to be or just leaving it alone. When your comfortable with the car go to a parking lot and have a ball...

The v6 is still a really cool car. But, there's nothing like the feeling when you stomp on the little pedal and the beast pins you in the seat. Also, the sound of an aftermarket exhaust system is like music to your ears. I'm 42 and pay less INS. Premium for my
2SS/RS than for my 05 silverado.

Yeah I was shocked when I traded my 06 1lt cobalt in for my camaro and insurance went down $13/6 months/26 a year!
