Not everyone chose against an SS because of cost.

JFR1 you should check-out this thread for some more opinions. If you`re planning on doing cosmetic changes then the base LS should suit your needs to make it your own look instead of something offered as a factory option.
As for factory rubber I couldn`t say as I only rolled mine less than 50 miles before I changed the wheels and tires.

I wanted a daily driver not another V8. I went with the LS because I felt that I could add the things I wanted for the car a lot cheaper than the upgrade to an LT. It turned out that I was right !
The V6 is more powerful than my stock 69 SS vert ! However the 69 isn't very much stock anymore.

A fully loaded 2LT RS comes damn close to the 1SS price, and then when you're that high you may as well drop the extra 10k or whatever for the 2SS.

Prius IMO is a gimmick, I wanted a ride to enjoy, a commuter like the above poster, enough power to still plant you in your seat, regular gas vs premium was a smaller factor, etc etc. In due time I plan to convert it to full electric EV...

I didn't realise the price of a 1SS was close to the 2LT. Over here the SS cars are sold at a ridiculous price, I believe because of the perceived kudos of having that big v8 mill. I use my car as a daily driver, and have realised that the potential of the 300bhp in the stang GT is actually wasted in real world driving. That is why I imagine the 312bhp of the v6 will be more than enough for me, and I am too poor for the 2SS RS

I just got home after driving my car for 550 miles!!! I love my ls and I haven't had to go anywhere near the 118 mph speed! Whether the car is Maxed at 118 or 155, it makes no difference in acceleration when you're going legal speeds! I was coasting at 80 mph (legally here in Texas!) for quite a while and the ride was nice and smooth!!!

+1 . And I wanted RJT.
And, there is no "ugly" stock 5th Gen, regardless of engine displacement.

OP: next time test drive each model and decide before purchase, not afterward.

Didn't even know that I got the ls til I signed the papers. Didn't really notice it because of the rs wheels! Dealer already had it before I even came in. now my ls almost looks like the LTRS without the fogs still saving on those hehehe

Check out my avatar and my album. I bought the LS because I love the color and it was the only V6 manual 6 speed in the entire area at the time. It was 23K out the door and how the heck can you beat having a car that looks as good as it does and has the power?

I added factory stripes that I bought from a GM parts dealer online, had them installed at a local graphics place, added a Flowmaster American Thunder axle-back exhaust, a Flowmaster Cold Air Induction, and a hide-a-way license plate bracket (because I didn't want the dealer punching 4 holes in the front bumper) and a few other small items like door edge guard and red bowtie inserts.

By the way I used to drive a Nissan pick-up and in the 4 years that I had it I don't ever remember anyone at a stop light telling me "nice ride" like I have had 10 times in the month that I have had by Camaro!

I began a thread just for LS owners that has had a great amount of responses that you may want to check out:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99406

Enjoy your ride!

i love my 2LT RS!

everything thats included with this trim over the base is just aesthetics, even the guages imo, ive gotten along in other cars without that info for this long so..
The HID's are nice though, i like to see stuff at night
118 limiter is annoying though, that would be the first thing i upgraded along with some better wheels. My accord could go faster than that, so its a little embarrassing for chevy to cut it off at 118, they should of just put some better base tires on it.

The only things that really are worth the effort to get a 2LT RS is the HID's everything else can be added on later and prob for cheaper.

I had to have the HID's, leather and sunroof so it was a no brainer for me.

If you dont care about all the extra flashy stuff get the base.

Your car does not cut off at 118mph if you have the RS package. Those pirelli tires that are on your car are just about as good of "base tires" as you are going to find
