Would it Damage My Engine If i have AC on While Racing?

I know this might be a dumb question. But as a kid growing up I always remebered my father turning off the AC when he was driving on a hill. So my question what effects it would have if you have the AC running While your going wide open? Its summer and AC is a life saver. Thanks

No. People turn the AC off because it reduces engine power when its on.

It is supposed to disengage at wot. I'm not sure mine does though as it causes the car to vibrate something awful. If you area at the track ac is a faux pa. The condensation causes water to drip onto the track making the run for the next very hazardous.

When drag racing you might be asked to turn off your AC (by the track officials) because it drips water on the track. So its pretty common knowledge to turn your AC off when drag racing at a track. In addition, it could also slightly reduce power.

But if you're just talking about going wide open driving around on the street, its doesn't matter. It doesn't hurt anything to have your AC on.
