Most people who will be looking to buy a z28 are not comparing it with a base ss, they are comparing it to the gt500 or a base corvette or a cts-v. I am willing to pay 15k more than a moderately equipped ss because by the time you add the parts to the ss you will be around 15k deep into it and I want the z badge and warranty to go with it.

The only people comparing the price with a ss are the people who already have an ss.

Now that the 5.0 is here, the Mustang guys are making the same arguments regarding the GT500. It's just par for the course.

I hate to admit this crosses my mind everytime this topic is brought up or someone dismissed the significance of Z28...

Post of the day (as sad as it is to admit...).

What will Chevy call the lightweight, stripped down, souped up, track hound Boss competitor, if/when they waste the Z/28 moniker on the fat boy "Chevy CTS-V"?

you know. . .the fat boy cts-v can sure perform. . .

I wouldn't count the fat boy out just yet. just cause it's hefty doesn't mean it can't perform. people that complain about weight and don't actually take into account the whole car including performance are just bitching to bitch.

yea it could stand to lose a few pounds but at what cost? 60k+ for a z28 due to carbon fiber body panels, aluminum subframes, etc. how many would they sell? if that was the only option I don't think they would sell 2500 or more of them. now if they came out with a regular z28 and then a carbon edition (like the Z06 has). . .I could see them doing a limited run, and selling enough to offset the limited run.

CTS-V is a great hot rod.

It happened with the GT500, the SRT8 Challenger and it will happen with the Z28 and Boss 302. It's just the nature of the game.

Unfortunately, some people won't be able to buy into the game. I'm sure there are a lot of good poker players that would do well in the WSOP that can't afford/aren't willing to pay what it takes to get into that game.
your right there is stupid people out there!!

Not me. I'd rather get the CTS-V.

50k vs 60+? luxury performance or pure performance. two different types of cars.

The CTS-V has both sets of performance. And if the Z28 is $55k, it's not a $10k difference anymore.

to be honest we don't know if the z28 will be 45k, 50k, 55k. but lets go with a 8k difference in the 55k price you are stating. 8k for an interior is quite a bit of a difference. if they were with in 2k I can see getting the V. but 8k is a huge price for just an interior. I have in no way said the V's performance isn't there. so tell me how it's both?

it's not really old people. . .hell if I could afford a 63k car I'd buy it. for the back seats. I love that interior. and I'm not old. far from. but I'm waiting till I get a response from 2010-1ss-IBM before we continue the differences.
