I just tried to put in a beater as my primary vehicle and the Camaro as my Recreational vehicle. It ended up dropping my rate about $20 a month. I will have to get a beater for the winter and the savings help. (maybe some of you are in similar situations)

In Buffalo, I am most definitely in that situation. I see very little choice but to get a winter beater- hence the '02 Impala LS I bought a couple weeks ago. I "just" made it through the last four winters with the GTO I had. Add another 75HP and almost 2" wider tires and I just saw unhappy times coming up...

That being said, I fully intend to keep full insurance on the Camaro year-round. There are many nice days with clear roads during the winter months that I would have no problem driving the Camaro during.

I just turned 30 a couple weeks ago. Called up State Farm at lunch today to get a quote.

I have a 100K/300K w/ what used to be a 250 comp/500 coll deductable and an SS will run me around $523 every 6 months. I switched over to a 500/500 deductable cause then it will be around $460 every 6 months. I don't even get a multi-car discount either. Right now I pay $343 every 6 months for a 2007 Mazda CX-7 so it's going to be well worth the extra $20/mo to go from an SUV to a 3 year newer sports car. I remember back in the day when I was young and even dumber than I am now I was paying $270/mo to own a '97 ram air Trans Am and $200/mo to be able to drive it, lol

kd...sorry it took so long to get back to you, I was on vacation for a bit and then every time I would try to quote my new premium Progressive would tell me the site was having technical difficulties

Anyway, I didn't get a screenshot but mine stayed at $899 for 6 months with the liability coverages you show (the other stuff was maybe $100 of that total)...same as what I'm paying for my 04 Grand Prix except with reduced liability/property damage coverage, and that's with my accident/ticket.

The only thing I can think is that maybe it was the type of collision and your age??? Sucks to hear it's so high for you but shop around...might be a fluke?
