So 19s then...best of both! LOL! J/K!

I'll look at a smaller rims (18s) for the track for sure but 20s will do fine for my day to day driving!

I'll still be going with some 18's. In fact, I'll be picking up some of the 18 x 7.5 rims off the LS. With the rubber I'm looking at wrapping them in, that should give me a section width of 9.7 inches all around. Close enough to my goal of 10.

Yeah, well, when you have as little money as I do, you cut costs where you can. I'll be lucky to even be able to afford a camaro - much less more expensive rims.

P.S. - not to mention that this car will be my daily driver and the thinner tires will help in snow/rain.

I'm pretty sure you won't be with the Brembo's on your 2SS. I believe you'll need 20's to clear the brakes.

is that what they tell you?

if you spend some time looking, im sure you will be able to find a set of wheels you can afford. or if you set a lil money away here and there. who knows, you might end up with a deal the way I did for my Z06 wheels, $300 bucks for the rims with tires (~10,000 miles on them) and spacers.

never know what you might find.

Does the blue GS show car have 18's? If so, other 18's should fit over the brakes. I'll be seriously considering welding a band in those steelies depending on offsets. Why? Because I can...And the uninformed will think he's about to spank a base V6.

Or you could realize that not everybody is in the same situation as yours. Right now I don't have anywhere near the money to buy a camaro - I'm putting everything I have into savings and still coming up far short. As far as wheels go, I love the look of the LS wheels and I should be able to trade in my stock 1LT rims to the dealer for a set at extremely little or no cost. I already found the set of tires that would fit the LS rims and work for what I want and the difference in section width between the tires for the 7.5 inch wheels and the tires I'd like to have for 8.5 inch wheels was only .4 inchs - not nearly enough to merit the cost of having them widened. At 9.7 inches the section width was plenty wide enough for me.

Like I said, some of us just want a camaro and have to cut costs where we can. One of those places is by NOT putting money aside or creating an expenditure for rims. Unless you've got 500 bucks you're willing to give me, how about you let your car be your car and my car be my car.

The Koni Challenge car is running a different brake package altogether. It's got Brembo calipers in the front but it looks like 1 piston sliding calipers in the rear. On the SS, the rear setup is larger.

Again, the 1st Generation CTS-V ran the same sized brakes and calipers and came stock with 18s. It's not that 18" wheels won't fit over the rear 14.4, it's that you're going to have to do some research and trial and error (or have a high end custom wheel company like CCW make you a set) to find 18s that will work.

One of the big concerns that I see doing a variety of platforms are the wheels themselves become a challenge and I understand why. Developing and making a vehicle specific wheel is pricey and getting the weight down and maintaining strength is even pricier. We recently did a LX SRT8 that the engine was converted to a big bore Hemi and had very serious torque, and would transfer the torque easier with our Pedders system. But his wheels and tires he had, 22 inchers, weighted 80 pounds. they looked great but the unsprung weight of 80 pounds is huge.

The Camaro, without a doubt, is going to be an extremely accessorized car and will go way beyond Mustang. So hopefully there will be some specific offsetted wheels designed and built for her and will be light enough to not increase unsprung weight. When buying a wheel, most poeple look for the right look first, price second. It is rare to look for a wheel that is structurally sound, and has great weight. These wheels usually do not pass the price test because they are usually 25% to 150% more than the average wheel poeple are buying. A good performance wheel should be under 20 pounds.

So tons of GTO owners spent thousands and thousands on engine and suspension mods, and then put on a 50-60 pound wheel that was actually made for a BMW, and then had the hassles of dealing with fender to tire contacts.

so just something to think about.
