You said the GT500kr has nothing in its class. If the Z06 isnt in its class then I will agree with you that the ONLY reason ford is on top is because it has nothing to compete with. Wich tells me that ford doesnt care about performance. They just want the suckers that buy them to feel like they have something to be proud of. The second link is just a video showing how most of the people that bought a GT500 are probably feeling disapointed in thier investment. I will give you that the GT500kr is a cool car but if im in the market for a SPORTS CAR for that much money, you can be sure im going to buy the most bang for the buck, and the GT500 is not it.

I'm curious to know why you don't feel that at $42K a 500hp GT-500 doesn't have much bang for the buck? Where else you going to find a factory 500hp car for that price? It's pretty tough to say that to me cause as you've stated in your above post there really isn't anything else at that power/pricing point. A Vette would be better but it costs more if you look at MSRP vs. MSRP. The Camaro is and always has been one of the greatest bang for the buck cars, but it starts at 9K less. It doesn't have competition at that price unless you maybe look at a $40K SRT8 Challenger but I'd def. rather have a GT-500 for 40 grand than a Challenger.

K, wasn't sure since you said GT-500 at the end and not KR, hehe. In that case I totally agree that the GT500KR is WAY over-priced for what you are getting.

The Corvette (with two-seats and 52 cubic feet of interior volume) and the GT500, including GT500KR, (with four-seats and 97.9 cubic feet of interior volume) are not recognized by any automotive authority, including the EPA, as being in the same classification.

To your second point, anyone who looks at a modern vehicle as an investment is someone with little or no financial sense. I can't speak for everyone who bought one, but I sure didn't buy it looking to make money on it down the road when I sell it. I bought it for the same reason as I bought my previous GTO. The car met my performance and utility desires/needs at the time of its purchase.

I GET that you see Ford-produced vehicles as inferior to vehicles produced by another manufacturer. I GET that you are upset that GM does not make a direct competitor for the GT500. I GET that, because you do not understand the attraction the car has for others that you feel the need to disparage them by calling them "suckers" or some other derogatory name. I GET that my joke got under your skin. Maybe you can GET it through your head that the Corvette has never been, and will never be, a direct competitor for any variation of the Mustang except in the minds of a few people that feel the need to reinforce their superiority complex involving one car brand over another.

Maybe the Corvette's a little bored having nothing from Ford to compete with and likes to dip into the pony car segment to destroy a Mustang every once in a while for fun.

I will never understand why some folks feel the need to disparage another brand of cars. I guess I am old school, I dig all muscle cars.

Truth is, I am gonna have a hard time deciding between the 2010 Mustang GT and the Camaro. A good test drive will resolve it for me. I love giving the salesman a good white knuckle experience.

I am in no way a Ford fan, but Ford does have the GT which would be comparable to the Corvette, right?

Ford GT Specs
Top Speed: 205 mph / 330 km/h
0-60 mph: 3.6 seconds
0-100 mph: 7.8 seconds
0 - 1/4 Mile: 11.6 sec @ 126.2 mph
Engine: DOHC V-8, supercharged

You know, I hadn't thought of that. Maybe I should go out and pick on some GTO's and F-bodies from time-to-time just to be sure I meet my destruction quotas. Not really, as I bought my car for my own pleasure, not to prove something to anyone else. But it is an idea.

Sadly, no. The Ford GT was intended for a very specific, limited production run to celebrate Ford's 100th anniversary and they are no longer in production. Ford offers nothing to compete directly with the Corvette. It was nice when you had the Corvette, Viper and Ford GT going head-to-head though.

LOL...I told you I wasn't a Ford guy, I thought they still made them today, but in a limited amount. Oh well, guess I need to read up on the other brands from time to time but I just seem to have my blinders on right now and the only thing in my sight is the 2SS I have on order.

Even so, the GT was made to be a supercar. The equivalent Corvette (at least in my opinion) is the ZR-1. I, personally, wouldn't say that the Corvette and Z06 were really made to be supercars, especially if you look at prices as a distinguishing characteristic.
