oil filter- v6

i also posted this in the v6 thread, maybe i will do better here

was going to do my first oil change soon and switch to synthetic. as for the oil filter, should i buy the k&n oil filter or just the cheaper one it comes with(think its ac delco)? any advantage to the k&n oil filter? its about 10.00 and the ac delco like 5.

Imo, just use the ACDelco ones available at GM. They are cheaper and available. Better than Fram thats for sure.

Wix filters always score high in the tests I've read about over the years. NAPA Gold filters are made by Wix. I usually stock-up on NAPA's when they are on sale (usually about $3.50).......

Go with the GM stock filter, assume they built it with purpose...I think oil changes and filters are ove rrated in these days of well built engines...change the filter and oil every 5000 with standard oil and when was the last time you have heard of any engine oil related issues on new cars?

The K&N has 5 more pleats then the stock filter.
I have only used the 2 so far.

Wix filters are good. That's what I'll be using in my Camaro.
