Awesome day at Mid Ohio today. That's entering the straight along the Paddock area. We were accelerating there from about 70 to 80+ mph on this stretch. We hit 111 on the back straight. Didn't want to stop! I figure we did at least 25 laps on the big track, about 9 or 10 on the autocross and three or four hilarious laps in the skid car. Thanks for a great Day to TLSTWIN, picture below taken by his wife.
Sweet, sounds like you guys had a great time. I would have liked to be a part of this.

Everyone please say an extra prayer tonight. A few friends of mine were in a pretty bad boat wreck this past weekend. Some broken bones and damaged tissue but everyone is alive. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers, they need it. :(

It sounds like this may be an annual event.
But they (Mid Ohio) want to see us get more drivers up there. The whole facility was ours for the day, breakfast and lunch on the 5th floor of the tower. Hard to justify having their maintenance and safety staff there all day for only 8 drivers.

Sorry to hear about your friends. Hope to hear they all recover OK.

This was the best time yet with the Camaro! I recommend doing this kind of event in the future. Thanks again TLSTWIN for organizing this.

About half the turns around the track I was braking to keep from getting too close to the car ahead of me. The other half of the turns felt like I was taking the car to its cornering limits to try and keep up. SilverIceman was usually in front of me and it was tough to try to keep up with his supercharged and suspension modified Camaro. I probably had the only completely stock suspension. There was a lot of tire squealing. I'm sure I won't be getting the mileage out of these tires I thought I might after this.

As I lay quietly in bed last night, I could still feel myself taking the turns around the track. It was weird, kind of like how a bed can feel like it is spinning if you drink too much. (Not that I've done that in awhile. )

Yep, I kept thinking I'd lose Heinz in his "stock" ride, but every time I looked in the mirror he was right up on me. Impressive driving

I didn't get any spinning feelings last night, but my mind was still on the track, I kept picturing those turns in my mind and thinking about where I could gain speed here and there.

I agree, that track definitely took our cars to the level they were designed and built for. We may not get the full "highway" milage out of those Pirellis, but we got our money's worth of "performance" out of them yesterday.

Was it safe? Yes, we could only go as fast as our instructor who was in the lead car, so even if you wanted to speed up, you just ended up slowing down with the pack. It was more fun as the pack spaced out more. They gradually built us up to the speed we finished at and never felt like we were going too fast. But, it definitely was fast enough to be thrilling. 110 mph down the backstretch did get the HR up.

I doubt if we would have been able to go as fast if everyone showed up.

I would be in favor of meeting at Kmart (Beavercreek) tonight. I'm planning on going down to the Street Car Shootout in Fairfield tomorrow and back to Hamilton on Sunday, so staying close to home sounds appealing tonight.

If we get a group, dinner across the street would be fun afterwards. Bar Louie and the Mongolian Grill are both fun group places. Lots of choices!
