Did you guys read this part?

"The decision to skip the Super Bowl advertisement was also based on the fact that the automaker won't have a major vehicle launch to promote then, Cusinato said."

Seeing how the superbowl is the first of February wouldn't you think they do have a major vehicle launch to promote...HELLO the Camaro which starts production Feb. 16th!

Commercials won't start until production starts...or every dealer will have lots of people going in to try to buy and they won't have anything to offer. Give it some time. The only commercial they could really do is something that ends in..."production to start feb 16th" or something.

I say hold off and begin the commercials in the second week of feb. GM already has 10,000 orders to fill with us anyway!

When a car looks as good as the Camaro, no need for commercials.
Why waste millions of dollars the car will sell itself soon as it hits the road!

Its not as if GM has been hiding the car from the public for the last 3 years. I figure that they will start advertising the Camaro at about the same time as it hits showrooms.

I think a commercial is naturally the next step in advertising. However, it would be badass driving my new Camaro and people wondering, "Whoa, what the heck is that badass looking car!?" lol, I'm already day-dreaming about it

Although completely off topic...

Being that I was born in 1986, no I don't remember the 1985 Berreta. Can you elaborate? Are you saying that they will make so many 2010 Camaros that they'll all be worthless? And somehow 2011's won't suffer the same fate? How does the early launch have anything to do with how much the car is worth?

And why do you say the car is "ramping up at a snails pace"?

Talking

Well, there is going to be a Transformers movie clip during the Super Bowl. So, you just might see a yellow Camaro.

And what would you define as "the little shit boxes?"

Of course, it's so stupid to advertise cars like the Cobalt and Malibu which get good fuel economy. It's just stupid if we advertise our trucks, aka our most profitable vehicles. All we care about is the Camaro. It doesn't matter if people's perceptions about GM change or not, we want Camaro advertising!

C'mon people. Wake up. Yes, the Camaro is a fantastic car, but there won't be a Camaro if there's no GM, and there won't be a GM if people don't know about our other products and therefore don't buy them.

They made so many that you could not trade your car in because it was worth nothing. So in the same thought of thinking you pay lots of money for it at MSRP. The car will be worth less in loan value in 24 months. Some guys will be in trouble with their banks...
Wrong...

The reason it's being introduced in 2009 as a 2010 model is to MAINTAIN resale value. Straight out of John Fitzpatrick's mouth.

Quote:
8) CZ28: Why is the Camaro going to be a 2010MY if it is coming out early 2009?

John: By assigning the Camaro a 2010 model year moniker, it maintains resale value. Also, what better way to start the second decade of the 21st Century?

Cheryl: Fitz has got it right!

The 370Z, as customary for Nissan, is due out in January, a month before the Super Bowl is played. And there aren't 10,000+ pre-orders to fill before the general public can purchase the car. Nor are there any new production car startup snags likely as are pending with the Camaro.
Either way, I don't see how it will impact any of us.

Berreta??? Now there's an of the wall comparison.

The documentary "saving Gm" told it best. Like baseball is to Americans, GM is to car owners. They both go hand in hand. Lets not forget about how big of a role GM play s in not only in baseball, but football and basketball. If any body remembers when the phillies won the world series and that pitcher colt hammels won the mvp, he won the the keys to what?? That s right the New Chevy Camaro. v6.. However it was there on the national stage. It s like a commercial, in ways of promoting and setting the record straight. That we are right around the corner to the biggest car launch (in my opinion) ever.

Good point. I forgot about the MVP award. That was definitely a good move by GM. It just feels a little lacking at this point with production starting next month (man that's nice to say).
