2011 Challenger pegging Camaro as target

...instead of Mustang. Saw this on Jalopnik:

http://jalopnik.com/5642682/2011-dodge-challenger-srt8-475-hp-and-an-unbelievable-0+to+60-time

2011 Challenger V6s get a boost to near-Camaro 305hp/268lb, and the SRT jumps up to 475hp/460lb. (Never mind the CEO stating 3-sec 0-60 times - clearly wrong and impossible.) Their comparison for each model besides the SRT are Camaros.

Isn't the GT500 at a 4.1 or 4 second 0-60? So how on earth would a 475hp boat be in the 3's?

GM better turn up the wick real quick ... The Camaro will get bypassed at this rate ...

Ya-Ya I know , but next year we will have the "Z" but that doesn't help this year ... IMO

It would be nice if GM would start backing High Performance a little better ... Give more user options, dealer based tunes with a thumb's up from GM ...

That's ridiculous.
A 475 hp Challenger will be significantly slower than a GT500 and most likely not any faster than the Camaro SS.

It will most likely run similar numbers to the Camaro SS. Don't forget the Challenger is quite a bit heavier than the Camaro SS.

The 475hp Challenger will be a high 12 sec car (mid 4s 0 - 60mph) in Magazine testing (similar to the Camaro SS).

Huh????

The 2011 Mustang and the 2011 Challenger just caught up to the 2010 Camaro's....

The Mustang and Challenger are a year behind the curve and are simply playing catchup....

Again what is the curb weight on this vehicle? Well over 200 pounds more and not as well distributed. It will be as much of a walk as everyone thinks unless they go on a diet.

Supposedly it'll have an 8 speed auto so the gearing could be crazy. But I'm with you on the 0-60 times, very much doubt 3 seconds unless they dropped a lot of weight.

I think your missing the point, GM knew a year a go what the others were bringing, they should have stayed on top ...

I think the economy was at a all time low, GM couldn't have the funds to do what you guys wanted them to do. Now that the Camaro has released and they've made a 1B Profit(of course not due to Camaro 100%) you'll see more offerings and things of that nature...Nonetheless i'm going to trade in my SRT8 for a 392 though,

Patience!

And THIS is why I regret getting my Camaro noooow. Z, SRT 392, GT500.... could it be a better time to wait to buy a car? I'm excited and looking forward to ditchin' my SS.

There comparing the wrong cars to compare the str8 to the GT500 in performance. That car is light years ahead of all of us right now. I only hope the Z/28 puts it in it's place.

Then you can say the same for Ford and Dodge.... They knew what Chevy was doing with the Camaro...

It's not like any of them can design, create, and produce a car at a moments notice..

Ford and Dodge are playing catchup and are a year behind... They have caught up and now I am sure Chevy will move back ahead..

And besides, who really cares about a HP here or a HP there... It's a simple numbers marketing game.... They are all nice cars with more HP than the normal driver will or should ever need...
