As I explained to my cousin after she got her license :

Someone flashing their lights while oncoming means you have your bright lights on, or there's a cop ahead.

Someone flashing lights behind you wants you to move over or is trying to let you know about the guy in the back seat with an axe.

Overall though, I think the Camaro penetration into society has reached a point where assholes are getting them now. Owners of the first wave of 2010's are going to be the cool/nice ones.

im driving and then the other guy in the camaro just looks at me
with the stare that makes it look like just want to kill me for having the same car. why do they do this. don't they understand that we live in a country of mass-production!?? i don't expect them to be friendly and try to talk to me, but at least try not to hate.
im guessing these people are the one's who got the cars just to show off and think they are the coolest guys ever.
I think you hit it right on the head some people just got the car cause it was the "hip" thing to do at the time. I myself will wave, flash my lights, and if we are headed the same way i will even go outta my way a lil just to say hi in person and see if they are part of Camaro5

you guys have to realize things get old .... back when the 4th gen came out sure people were waving... but are they waving now... no.. that wave thing was a last year thing... two many people have them now.. its not a big deal anymore to own a camaro.. its cool but nothing crazy.... just stop waving and stop worrying about it... people who got the camaro back early last year were car people... now i see moms. and people who just drive because they like the camaro... back last year everyone loved the car.... every one here loves the car.... but how many people are on camaro5 compared to the thousands of camaros sold ......

I rarely see anyone in a 4th gen or 3rd gen camaro all giddy about their car. sometimes i wonder if those generation camaro owners even think of the car as being at all part of a classic heritage. I think the 1st 2nd and 5th gen have the most in common with power and styling.

I get plenty of respect from Mustang and Challenger owners. It is those idiot ricers in their 100 hp boxes with a coffee can muffler who get obnoxious. Morons!

So far I have had mostly positive experiences. I'm in Vermont and there are not a lot of Camaro’s here.
  • I have had people give thumbs-up.
  • Comments like “Nice car” “Sweet ride”.
  • Kids giving me the “smoke the tires” hand gestures. (they have no idea how expensive the tires are).
  • I have had people just stare at the car, waiting for me to drive away.
  • I have had a Mustang pull up next to me on the highway and give a thumbs-up (or maybe another hand gesture?) couldn’t really tell.
Should be interesting to see here how people react when I am the only Camaro on the road this winter. Just got my Snow tires and rims from the Tire Rack yesterday.

Now that one always puzzles me??
Why on earth would you subject this sweet, rear drive ditch seeker to a Vermont winter?

I knew that would get some attention.

Well reason is multi-layer.
  • I was driving a 2002 Toyota Rav4. I looked into a new one loaded up and it would be about the same as the Camaro.
  • So I had to decide between the Rav4 or the Camaro… Went with the Camaro.
  • I’m not keen on putting up my Camaro for 6 months out of the year (which I would have to do in Vermont).
  • If I'm going to spend $30k on a car (2LT, RJT, 6A,19” Polished), I’m going to drive it!
  • My first car was a Chevy El Camino with a 305 V8, I drove that all year round with no snow tires. (I was “Drifting” long before the rice rockets were. Just like doing it on snow.)
I agree I opening myself up to rust and stone chips, but I am willing to risk it to be able to drive it year round.

Yea I've had the same experience. V6 owner zoomed passed me while I was entering an exit and rode the shoulder to cut me off ON THE EXIT.

That's just dangerous.

I would have to disagree on waving because it's a new car... On my motorcycle i always waved and 99% of the time i got a wave back. It's not a "i have the new camaro" thing, it's a mutual respect and recognition of another person with similar interests.... Just my .02 ...
