When we were going to Oshawa for the 2010 BBOMG, we passed about 20 truckloads of challengers. Of that 20, 12 truckloads were in a color I haven't seen before...a hint of purple, blended with what looked to be May Kay Cosmetics PINK...... It was...YUK. That image is burnt into my head. Now when ever I see one of ANY color, I remember those truckloads that went who knows where!
I assume this is the colour you saw:

Its Furious Fuchsia, a modern take on classic 'high impact' Mopar colour Panther Pink

I think they were special edition cars. Like Synergy Green Camaro's. I know back in March I drove by the Camaro plant and it seemed like 1/3 of them were SGM. I bet Dodge was cranking out their Furious Fuchsia Challengers to fill their lots with an eye-grabbing colour.

And besides, who really cares about a HP here or a HP there... It's a simple numbers marketing game.... They are all nice cars with more HP than the normal driver will or should ever need...
But Chevy didn't have a Camaro out there for over 7 years. Ford isn't playing catch up, they're simply reacting to whatever Chevy does. I'd venture to say that they are actually being proactive with the release of the Boss next year. Dodge nailed the retro look for the Challenger but then realized that the cars it competes against are hundreds of lbs lighter and will run circles around them. It's ALWAYS been a numbers marketing game. Most people that buy a V8 equipped muscle/sports car aren't interested in how many cup holders it has or how many people can comfortably ride in it. They care about the HP numbers and performance aspects of the car....

Reacting when you're behind = catch up

Until the GT500 is challenged Ford has the pony car performance market cornered.

If you want to be a simpleton about it, then I guess so. Why would Ford change anything? There wasn't any competition out there for over 7 years. It's just a simple game of "anything you can do, we can do better". I don't mean that in a negative way but be realistic. The Camaro was ahead of the Mustang for close to a year, that doesn't qualify as playing "catch up". That is answering a challenge, pure and simple.

Why would they change something for 2010? I dunno ... to embarrass the new guy? Thats what I would try and do, steal their spotlight before they even get on stage. Afterall, it wasn't a secret that the Camaro was coming, production was announced back in the summer of 2006.

But let me get this straight, if you're behind a competitor, its not catching up but rather answering a challenge? Sounds like spin to me. But if that isn't catching up, then according to you ... what is catching up? Being ahead of the competition?
