any news on the LSA motor?
hey all
just curious, has there been any news on the LSA motor (from the suped up Caddy CTS-V) being dropped into a Camaro. If not I guess maybe an aftermarket engine swap, for a V6 car? |

Aye. If you do the swap in an LT or LS, you have to change the tranny, drive train, brake system, and the whole rear end. With having to do all this, it's cheaper and you're better off buying an SS to do the swap for.

No word. (Preface - since we already know we're getting SS, I'm only bringing this model up since we have no confirmation of anything except that it is not dead) If I'm not mistaken, 'Father's stated that original plans for the Z28 have changed, but to what extent, no one here either knows or can say. We don't know if it was to have the LSA or not. We know the SS doesn't have it but that's about it. I think the only car, for now, to have this engine is the Caddy', although I'm wondering if the Z06 will pick it up since it's my understanding the LS7 is going bye-bye. Unless the Gen V is ready to go in production soon, I can see the LSA make it into that car since it makes more power and torque; it would need it to overcome the additional weight it would add to that car.
Beyond that, I don't have any ideas. I'd welcome any information I've missed though

^ The ZR1 has it as well, and no i don't think the Z06 will get the LSA, the car would be much to heavy then. The LS7 is a perfect engine for it.

ZR1 does not have the LSA, it has an LS9. The LS9 has Ti rods, 2300cc supercharger, forged pistons, different block, different heads, higher rev' limit, different flywheel, and numerous other differences.

No news on that. GM needs to make some money off of the Camaro first before they go and release a 'Z*#' to duke it out with the GT500

Both are superchared 6.2Ls, and are pretty much the same, i thought they were the same except for a different sc. Either way i don't think that engine would be as good as the 7.0L in the camaro. The superchared 6.2L is way to heavy and i think 505 HP in a lightweight package is plenty enough to take on the 540 HP stang.

And the forged bottom end plus all the titanium components in the LS9 make that engine near indestructable. I agree the LSA and the LS9 are the same in principle but very different in capabilities.

Thanks, i guess i have to do some more studying on my LS engines. I had not heard the LS7 is going away, i loved that engine, light and powerful makes for a deadly combination.

The LS7 is currently available as a crate engine, and GMPP even offers a performance cam for it that bumps the 505 to 550hp. Maybe you should buy one before they aren't available any more?
