Correction on that, it was not the typhoon we tested, it was the K&N Aircharger.

I noticed the Halltech out performed the RotoFab in numbers ... they are both on the top of my list! For all you guru's out there, I also noticed that the Halltech use's a different filter, it open on the inside like a vortex where the RotoFab uses's a regular cone type. Do you think this had anything to do with the better numbers .. ie more air or something?

No it is all about the Fuel trims or MAF reporting error.

Once tuned Power will be near Identical so go with the one you like.

Ted.

Actually this was pretty interesting. Halltech's filter is very good, But I don't believe that's why the kit does so well. It certainly helps a lot to have a good filter, but I saw a couple things with the Halltech kit that stood.

1 - Fuel Trims are very good, MAF housing design was real nice.
2 - Heat Shield was extremely good there was some detail into this heat shield. The Heat shield is really massive. Not only good hood seal but the shield is real long covers a lot distance to keep hot air out.
3 - HUGE Velocity Stack.
4 - All Plastic Construction.
5 - Good Filter.

I knew once I saw the K&N kit do fairly well with the velocity stack that the Halltech kit was going to be real stout.

I think the Roto-Fab kit looks beautiful, it's very eye pleasing and Mike @ Roto-Fab is a great guy to deal with..

Like Ted said once tuned, all these kits will make pretty much the same power.

For those that like the name K&N, they have our molds and make ALL of our filters, both for the Camaro and the Corvette. I personally design all of our filters, and having the reputation of K&N behind our filtration media, and the ease of obtaining their cleaning kits, made this a simple choice. The decision behind what filter design actually took more testing than the Solid Works design and rapid prototype development.

What is interesting about these dyno results, is that they match our Camaro's initial results with our prototype last year. We managed 14 RWHP and 10.6 lbs-ft torque with just the addition of our intake.

This shop tested our carbon fiber Bumble Bee vs. the Yellow Jacket (no tuning required) and with tuning on both systems saw 4 to 5 more horsepower with our Carbon Fiber Bumble Bee (requires tuning).

Jim

So....I wonder what the Bumble Bee would do with the ADM scoop in place as well?

I would love to see this test repeated with Ted doing a tune for each intake. (Ted, in your spare time of course ) I know this will never happen, but it would be interesting.
