Sorry for the suspense. Just want to dot all I's and cross all T's before making the formal announcement.

Wanted to let people know that a location and date has been decided since many members have been inquiring.

Sure takes a long time to the i's and cross the t's. There are members that have to make a decision by the first of october. For an administrator to post something like this and let it drag out for 7 days ridiculous. This thread should have never been posted.

Would you rather the administrator and moderators not go through the trouble at all to organize a fest for us? I'm sure they have a legitimate reason as to why it is taking them longer than first expected.

We are just as excited as you are for this. And we've been getting hammered since C5F I concluded to get C5F II announced... Maybe we should have waited until we had absolutely everything lined up before letting you all know we were close to wrapping the deal up.. But then we'd still be getting hammered as to why it is taking us so long.

So please forgive our over anxiousness... I can honestly say that it was in no way intended to be obnoxious or to "drum up" excitement. it was more of a "Finally we can say SOMETHING"

So again, I'm sorry you were one of the ones that we couldn't make happy.

Hopefully when we do have the information you want you will be.

I wasn't trying to be snide. However, having been a part of the Sky/Solstice community for 3 years, announcements aren't made until they are generally formalized. When one of my children says I will see you around noon-ish I pin them down as to what that means. When someone tells me that an announcement will be made in a few days, I expect that is what will happen. If I treated customers this way there would be no business.
Having said all that I do understand the need for contracts, and to make sure all other aspects have been taken care of before committing everyone's resources and time. Therefore, as I tried to make the point before, you don't make a statement that something will happen in a few days if it is going to take weeks to come to fruition.

Like I said, I apologize for the delay in the official announcement. When the announcement to the announcement was made, we had been promised the last key piece of information within a day or so.... That didn't happen so we're stuck....


It really isn't more complicated than that... But that still leaves us with the predicament of if we had never made this "announcement" we'd still be getting heat from our members who so badly want the details...

At least this shows that we are actively working it to get it finalized.

I wish we could make everyone happy and get the information out when everyone needs it... But we all know that ain't gonna happen.

Maybe the attention this thread is receiving is required in order to show support for such a large event. Negotiating a venue in one location that can impact an entire continent, as far as interest and attendance, is something that can be severely swayed when it comes to footing the bill.
