If you had just been nice and suggested an area of the car that you personally didn't like I would have appreciated your comments. But no you had to go and call a whole bunch of people idiots.

Who on earth do these people at GM think they are releasing a HUD design based on over 10 years of experience INCLUDING the performance flagship Corvette. They couldn't possibly know what the customer likes and doesn't like and what the customer expects the HUD do for them. How dare they not considers hundreds of thousands of customer inputs in the design of the Camaro HUD?

Why do people keep saying - you would think someone with a technical background for this information would change it...

They do have a background, and they do know what they are doing....it is called marketing and they work for XM.

With that said, I only have an issue with commercials when listening to stern...everything else is commercial free..

You can't actually look at the tach or listen to engine harmonics to know when to shift?

No, they can't....that would take too much effort, plus, then they would have to find something else to complain about.

Personally I never look at the tach, I know if I take it to far the limiter kicks in ...

Don't make an OnStar call or you'll find another place the tach goes away. Oh and the turn-by-turn is a bad idea too, that takes over the HUD and makes several announcements as warnings as you get close to your turn.

The car tells you when to shift, learn to read it by sound and feel, it's not a subtle thing.

The only time I really use the tach is to make sure when I'm at speed I have the RPM's sitting less than 2K.

Well I'll defend the OP a bit here. Don't brag about this cool new feature that lets you "keep your eyes on the road" and then when the driver is pushing 5K RPM, using the HUD for what its designed for, throw up an add for Preparation H!!!!

That said, doesn't the Camaro's HUD have different modes that block out the radio inputs? My Z06 has Street mode where I see my blinkers and radio info when I change stations. But it also has Track mode and in that setting Tach information never goes away. No radio info, no blinkers, nada. Engine information only at all times - which should be the primary reason for the HUD in the first place.

It doesn't seem like an unreasonable expectation to have a mode where vital engine information is never removed from the HUD - especially since GM has already incorporated that feature before. If your argument is, just look at the regular tach, then I guess GM is dumb to have wasted time on the HUD at all. I mean, everything it displays is elsewhere right?

I love the HUD. and 99% of the time the nav/radio doesn't interrupt me. I can really see your point about the tach disappearing. That may be annoying, but once you get used to the car you can just look at the regular tach when accelerating hard.

I dont think they are idiots but, no offense intended, having radio advertisements etc show up on the HUD in place of the important information is just silly. At the very least it should be a feature that can be disabled since most likely very few people care to see advertisements while driving.

Some of us have a seating/steering wheel position where some of the speedo and tach is obscured by the steering wheel. Also, the idea of a HUD is to avoid looking down into the dash and keeping the eyes on the road. I have to agree that I would not want any radio or other interuptions even if I could see the the regular speedo and tach fully.
