The OP asks a good question, HOWEVER vehicle speed is a consideration.
Highway speed can be 50mph, it can be 80 mph.
I would not put it in 6th at 50mph.
He just left out the speed he wants to be at.
I will drive mine in traffic at lower speeds in 5th and higher in 6th.
So far finding about 2k rpm is pretty good area to be in.

Hook your car up to a horse and put it in N. 1 HP baby!!

6th for cruising 5 if you wanna pass and pop it to 4th to blow by a traffic officer

Last week I drove from Port Huron to Wolverine, MI. I-69 to I-75 during low traffic hours. Average speed was 78 MPH, 6th gear except to pass the occasional slow poke in the fast lane. My average mileage was 24.8 MPG.

That is not bad mileage for the V8, and at what I call avg Michigan speed, lol.
