Read a few posts back, MOST SRT8's come with 255's as part of the Track Pack option. As far as " never happen. Ever." The Mercedes 4 door AMG, with 3800 lbs. but less hp did it in 3.9 with 255's, and that was in 2007. There's other cars as well that can do it under the 4.0 point with 255 tires. As an additional aside, afaik it has not been released yet whet size tires will come stock on the SRT8. I'm currently runnig 295 PS2's on mine iwth no issues at all including using it at racks like TWS and MSR Houston. Like I said earlier, it's all anyones guess until the car actually is released, however I can legitimately see the possibility of the car matching the lofty performance specs, as they have been met in the past and the technology has only gotten better. its not geared for quarter mile. its geared for highway kills. i dont run it at the track since the turbo motor went it. now that i dont drive it every day im changing it back to a drag car. it has 200in/lb front spring, coil overs, tubular qa1 control arms, granitelli tubular K member with weight reductions done to it, manual steering rack, manual non power brakes, no AC, no back seat, no dog bone, granitelli adjustable LCA's, adjustable tubular rear uppers, 90/10 lakewood struts, lakewood rear drag shocks, quad shock delete, 2.73 highway gears, ABS motor delete, power steering pump delete, UDP's, 275-50-15 hoosier DOT pro's, 165-15 front runners, forged 1993 lincoln teksid short block, ported 1993 dohc heads with FRPP stainless valves, stock cams. garrett gt3788 water cooled turbo in it now. 31"x12"x4" intercooler. 03 cobra radiator. hotside and cold side fabricated by me. entire setup fabricated by me.
the car has 2.73's becaue i had to drive it every day 160 miles. at the time i could not afford the 4.00 a gallon gas. the 2.73's were installed when i had a 5.4 3v in it. the car is partially disassembled. if you would like to see it i can arrange it. i am upping the power by ~100 percent. i have countless articles written on the build up in the corral, modular fords, and stangnet. do a search there. i run 10psi for every day with one intake valve. the imrc's are closed for DD. open for real power. i run up to 16psi. 8.5:1 compression ratio. im switching to 9.4:1 in the new build up. CP 2618 alloy forged pistons. manley I beam 4340 CNC rods. now you know everything there is to know.

505, but out of fuel. i am changing to an a1000 pump and large fuel hat for the new setup. i vary the boost. minimum of 6psi for maximum gas mileage. the turbo will surge below 6psi in this motor. the pcm is programmed for 16 psi. i can vary it without reflashing. all the ford pcm does is extend the scalars and tables for the maximum VE at 16 psi. less boost is ok.

Wandering Scott, Caddy CTS-V weighs 4200lbs and has 285 section PS2s and 556hp/551tq and most of the car mags have gotten in the the 4-4.1 second range rather than the 3.9second range that a few have gotten.
Chally with 475hp will not be able to break into the 3s. And the 8spd auto could be more of a hindrance than a help. Advantageous gearing, but also too many shifts. |

I'm very familiar with the Ford. I've built a lot of SC'd Mustangs through the years but only one turbo. I was involved in a twin turbo build for Bonnevile back in '04. After we couldn't get the car (an '03 Cobra) to behave properly above 180mph (it was extremely sketchy to get it to hold a line, we later found out we had a defective strut) we changed the gears and drag raced it for a bit before it was cannibalized. At 20 psi. of boost we were just under 800 rwhp. With 3.73 gears it would run pretty consistent 9.80s. I never cared much for the car personally as I've always preferred supercharging, but it wasn't mine, I was just along to lend a hand wrenching. You say you're going to drag race yours now? What rwhp target / 1/4 mile time are you looking to hit? |

Could be, time will tell. I'm looking forward to seeing the 6.4 come out. I'm also really pleasantly surprised that we're in 2010 and are speaking about actual production car engines that displace more than 6 liters and are making over 400 hp. |

Okay my Jeep is all wheel drive with a 3:73 gear. It runs 0-60 in 4.1,but my Challenger is a one legger that has a 3.06 gear and it runs 0-60 4.5 on 255 F1 tires with only 425 horse. I do think it is possible to get this car to run a 3.9 0-60 with the extra horsepower and a bigger gear.

the internals can handle upwards of 1500hp, with the rods being the limit. the block will not be prepped for 1500hp. there is not set goal in mind.
its being built to play with MY limits. im interested in seeing how hard i can leave and the add boost all the way to the line without wrecking. 275 drag radial is the self imposed tire limit. ideally i want to accelerate at a fixed rate all the way to the line. minimum HP i will accept is 1000. i am switching to a powerglide. 4r's just cant take the power. 6pt SFI rollcage. the 8.8 can handle 1k hp with 33 splines and a spool.. the B heads im using will easily run 1k hp. i might need different cams. i havent checked on that yet. i havent pulled the motor apart yet. i am also going to build version 2 of the intake in my avatar. i guess when the care is sorted out i'll be racing 275DR classes.
