Pirelli to raise prices!

if they weren't expensive enough...
Quote:
MILAN -(Dow Jones)- Tire maker Pirelli
& C SpA (PC.MI) will raise by up to 7% its prices for passenger and light truck tires sold in the United States.

Pirelli said in a statement Tuesday the rise was to compensate for the increasing cost of raw materials.

Pirelli is the latest tire maker to pass this higher cost on to customers.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co (GT: 10.74 ,-0.11 ,-1.01%) is raising prices on consumer tires by 6%, effective Oct. 1. It will be the second increase this year.

Pirelli isn't the only manufacturer that will be raising tire prices. Raw material rubber supplies are down and demand is up, hence the raw material cost increases.

I've heard that we can expect ALL tire prices to increase in the near future.

I'm not happy with the performance of the Pirelli's. I have also heard from people with in GM that the Camaro was supposed to run on a Goodyear that was designed for the car but due to the state of GM at that time the bean counters found a cheaper per unit tire. The car was actually supposed to handle better. Now I can't say who told me so you can believe me or not. I will most likely go with a set of Nitto's when buying new tires.

I own a small company that manufactures various plastic widgets via injection molding. We've seen raw plastics and colorant prices increase by as much as 15% over the past 8 months. So, I'm surprised they're only increasing 7%.

With our illustrious president and leaders in the EU (except Germany) printing money in vast quantities, it's a wonder we haven't seen more inflation to date. I think the flood gates are about to open up on us...remember the days of Jimmy Carter's stagflation...they're returning with a vengeance. Make your large purchases now!

The rubber is a supply problem but you may be right on the other. Most people here are to young to remember Carter, buy gas on odd/even days and 18% interest...if current leaders stay in they will learn...if you like ample gas supply, fast cars and a job...vote for real change...
