As to Xanthos's .97G skidpad claim. I don't mean to pick on anyone or start an arguement, but I have heard skidpad numbers for the SS as low as .90G, and as high as the .97G. I don't know if .97G is going to be realistic. Maybe I am wrong, we will see.

All these track test numbers are great for debate but with the initial situation of the question being a "Stop light drag race" I think arguing tenths is silly. None of those numbers, if accurate to production, were done on a 5 year old stretch of road covered with crap. They are best case numbers and the best case appears to be close. So as many have said it’s probably going to come down to the driver. Now I am by no means a racer of any kind but in my opinion you often win a drag race because you’re a better driver (on that run at least) not necessarily because you have the better car.

Stratman does not condone or participate in illegal street racing of any kind. Yet.

Camaro SS will be a tenth or 2 faster than the G8 GXP.
This is assuming the Camaro times are at 0-60 at 4.5 seconds which seems reasonable to be able to achieve stock considering the Camaro SS is lighter than the G8 GXP....

the real problem is how come the SS is even in a race against a V6. There is the issue. No one sees this? Our six should be the one blowing it away our 8 should not even be in the discussion

I truly owned a 350Z till last year so the reality is you truly didnt understand my post! It's stating that the V6 from GM is weak and that is the real fault of this Camaro. The Camaro's 6 should be the competition for the Z's 6. instead we are comparing GM's 8. Thats the point get it??

The Nissan 370 Z will BLOW away the V6 Camaro....not even close.

For that matter, so will the Infiniti G37.....not even close.

If you want to outsprint those cars, you will have to go for the SS.

What do you mean ummm NO. UMMM YES there should be no reason why our V6 can't compete against there V6 but year in year out there VQ engine out performs our sixes and matches our eights. We need more cylinders and displacement to do what they do with less, how is that not a problem? My point is your comparing apples and oranges imagine if nissan put a V8 in the Z it would eat our Camaro alive.

It's called weight. The Camaro is simply a bigger car. It has 2 more seats. Much more trunk room, etc. The 370z isn't made to handle 422hp. You have to increase the thickness of drive train components to cope with the extra HP adding more weight. And the v6 in the 370z has an extra liter on the Camaro v6 to boot.
