eDesign you have made my point exactly, maybe in a more constructive way I guess than I did. Maybe it was because I was getting attacked for my viewpoint and decided to attack back, rough day already. Sorry if I crossed some lines but read edesigns piece it explains what camaroino and i were trying to say!

Explain please...I don't consider two tenths of a second to be anything worth bragging about, but that's just my personal opinion. Technically it's faster though and I'm sure once you start pushing triple digits on the speedometer the V8 will offer much better performance

Glad to help, it happens to the best of us...I tend to post in the same manner in which I am replied to. If I'm engaged in a cordial debate I'm cordial, if I'm attacked I attack back...most people act the same way too.

Most mags have the 370Z doing mid 13's in the 1/4 mile. I am guessing the camaro can run high 12's but with a significantly higher trap speeds (assuming we shift to 4th gear a little before the quartermile mark.) Lets not forget that the Camaro offers faaaaaaaaaaaar superior mod potiential. a $500 cam and a tune will get you 500hp easy, that can't be said for the 370Z. Ultimately I would put my money on a Pedderized Modded Camaro SS over a Nismo 370Z anyday of the week.

Performance numbers on the Z:

0-60, then quarter mile
Edmunds 5.1, 13.4
Motortrend 4.7, 13.3
Road & Track 5.1, 13.7
C&D 4.9, 13.5

The Z got a .99 skidpad, which is better than vette if I remember right.
Also, 101 feet stopping from 60mph, which is better than the 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo with its $8,800 optional carbon-ceramic brakes

All in all, it just depends on what you're looking for. If you want a quick handler, maybe the Z is the car for you. If you want a crazy fast quarter mile bullet, maybe the Camaro.

I bet the camaro ss handling is going to surprise everyone. It will be world class handling, The G8 GXP already offers fantastic handling (Zeta I) the camaro ss is (Zeta II).

Personally, I could care less about whether an engine is 4,5,5,8, or 10 cylinders. I don't even care how heavy the car is. My only concern is how the car makes me feel. When I look at it, do I stop breathing? Will I get tired of looking at it, or will I not want to stop? How does it make me feel when I'm taking a cloverleaf entering or exiting the freeway? Does the car feel like it's gonna roll if I push a little, or does it beg to be driven faster and faster around the turn? Yeah, I love the new Camaro, but I can't even sit in one to see if it moves me let alone drive it. I have at least sat in a Z, so I know how it make me feel. To those who say you can't compare these two cars, I say bull. Especially since I am and have been comparing them for a while now. In the end, I will obviously buy the one that suits me best. Either way both the Camaro and 370z are awesome. I am having a hell of a time deciding. This thread is perfect for me.

those are mustang and challenger numbers.....camaro will be high 12s and low 4s 0-60 that is A TON to brag about A TON....if you dont think so then you dont know what .1 tenths means in a race , especially when you have a v6 vs a v8

Also consider what you are going to do with the car, do you need back seats and a trunk etc... if you are going to mod your vehicle, I stand by the camaro as the car with the most performance potiential for the money.

Will the camaros handling be great? I'm sure. Will it beat the Z? I can't logically see how. Will the average driver use either car in a way that makes the difference in handling worthwhile? *shrug*

That's a given. I remember looking at aftermarket parts for the 350z, and things like intakes, exhaust, forced induction all netted half the horsepower as the same mods for my c6.
