Thumbs up Big thanks to Norris Motorsports!

This morning I took my car down to Mike for a dyno tune. The car has 2100 miles, Kooks 1 7/8" LT's w/ catted Kooks 3" catback, a V-Max TB, and a Roto-Fab cai. It ended up putting down 422/421. Sometimes it seems like we hear so much negative stuff about vendors. I just wanted to let everyone know that Mike is a great guy and I would highly recommend him to anyone! I will be headed back down in April for a cam swap.
Thanks again Mike

+1
Picked up a V-Max TB from Mike with core charge. 9 days later he has already refunded me the core charge. Factor in the shipping both ways and that is excellent customer service.

What were the numbers before the tune? I want to see what a tune really gets you. I keep reading how happy people are after a tune, but I never see numbers to back it up. I've been on the fence for a while about the tune for that reason.

Chris, the baseline hp with the stock tune was 413 or 414 and I can't remember the torque. I know that doesn't seem like much, but in my opinion there is a lot more to a tune than before and after numbers. My car had a check engine light after the LT install and was lean at idle and at cruising speed. Seeing that my power-train warranty is gone, I felt that the low cost for the tune, was a small price to pay for the assurance that everything is maximized. The driveablilty and improved throttle response is another gain without any actual quantification. I personally gain nothing by embellishing, so you'll just have to take my word that it's a noticeable improvement.

That's good, thank you. I wasn't suspecting you or anyone else of embellishing, it's just that I read almost everyday of people praising a tune (whether canned tune or dyno tune) and have not seen any numbers. I know the dyno doesn't tell the whole story, so that is another limitation. However, I've been told that since I have yet to get a CEL, that the computer is still within it's "comfort zone". Meaning, it has sufficiently adjusted to the LT headers and CAI. I know that isn't totally true but at the same time, I would hate to fork over $500 or so and then try and convince myself that it "feels" better.

Thanks to Brent and everyone else for the kind words to say the least.

On this car, the peak gains were quite modest as the mods lead the WOT tune to be fairly close, but it was too lean. After getting the idle and cruise straigthened out and fattening her up a bit, the dyno numbers fell in line and almost idebtical to another 2010 SS M6 with the same mods.

So when paying for a tune, do not let the peak numbers be the only judge of its value. Besides, my base tunes on the dyno run $350-400 and go up from there depending on mods to the vehicle.

Thanks again Brent, see you in the spring for sure.
