rmyers - That is a very nice one indeed!!!!!! If you need something "to get by on" while you wait for your Camaro, I can't think of a better one to keep in your pocket.

djsnowflake - As far as CGM, I am not in the loop to determine if, when or how many. Sorry.

It looks like that key has seen much more abuse than yours #3. Any pics of the 2nd car that matches that key?

Sorry, I have no picks of the car to go with the key. Just wanted to satisfy the question on where the remote start button was located.

The Remote Start on our '08 Equinox Sport has been good for around 60-80 feet at least. I haven't tested the limits.

I am totally diggin the collapsable key or "switchblade" action..... with today's modern cars that have bigger and thicker and longer ignition keys than ever, you put one of those in your pocket and it doesn't collapse and it's gonna hurt. Just sit down in the right way and that thing will poke your thigh something terrible if you can't fold it.

I had an aftermarket remote start and security system put on my old 04 Regal LS and they said that it could be done, but they recommended against putting it on a manual, since some people leave it in gear when they get out. Is gm going to offer it on the manuals too? Also what is the range on the factory ones? Mine had an advertised two mile range, and it worked from about 1.5 on good days, usually about .5-1.25 miles though, depending on where i was.

A manufacturer will never offer remote start from the factory on a manual transmission due to liability. They won't even offer it with safeguards as those safeguards could be defeated or not work properly. Anyone could install an aftermarket remote start on a manual, but you just have to keep in mind that if the car is in gear and the clutch ignition interrupt switch is bypassed, the car will move as the engine attempts to start.

It won't start on the first try, but the car will move as the remote starter attempts to start the engine every 10 seconds untill enough momentum is built up to actually turn the engine over while the car is rolling at about 10 mph.

I've seen it happen. Used to work with someone who installed one on his 1992 Taurus SHO 5 speed. One night after work we went out to the empty parking lot and he put a demonstration on for us.

Pretty funny to see the car eventually roll to a full run.

Good thing the lot was empty and big.
